Brian Taylor Hellcat cowl / canopy wanted
Hi guys,
I'm looking for some Taylor Hellcat accessories, primarily the cowl. I would be interested in a canopy as well but I can still get that new through Traplet. However, the cowl is not listed on Traplet's web site. I would even be interested in a damaged cowl that I could repair and use as a plug for molding a new cowl. Any and all leads much appreciated.

Not any more tucker, just received an email from Holman this morning. He still has the laser cut parts but the plans and all accessories are handled exclusively by Traplet now.

I HAD a spare cowl and canopy, but now only have one of each to go with my kit (with 'glass fuselage/ all ribs cut short kit). Sometimes I think about selling the whole kit, but I'd really hate to let it go.
I also HAD one of the old CMP Hellcats: altho they have a 70" span, the wing was actually WAY out of proportion. Basically: the center section had too much span, causing the overall span to be to big, but more importantly: the landing gear stance was way too wide and looked all wrong.
The fuselage tho, was for all practical puposes" a true 1/8 scale ( as is the Brian Taylor ).
As I recall, the cowl was OK and would probably be a very reasonable substitue (IF you cannot locate a Brian Taylor). But the canopy sucked big time: the framework was all wrong and it looked cartoonish.
Dionysus-what-ever was fabricating some very nice canopies for 1/8 Hellcats, but I haven't heard from him in awhile and even then: if you say the wrong thing, you'll pee him off and he won't sell you anything.

Corsair Jock,
I had not considered the CMP but, now that you mention it, I do recall that the fuselage was very similar in size to the Taylor. I will definitely check that one out, it just might work. Thanks for the heads up Jock.
I did find out that Traplet DOES have the Taylor Hellcat cowl, it's just not listed on their web site. Now the bad news, the cost is $52.50 for the cowl (which is fine) and then another $30 for shipping. Ouch!
As for the canopy, it's easy enough I can vac form it myself no problem. I know that Luke's (Dionysus-what-ever) canopy was quite nice but since I've already said "the wrong thing" I'm pretty sure he wouldn't sell me one if I did want to buy it.
Onward and upward...

I have both the cowl and the canopy. Let me know if you are still looking for one. We can work something out.

Greg,
Please shoot me a private email and we can discuss it. Interestingly, I received an email from another gentleman in Canada who has a cowl and canopy for the Hellcat too. Seems all the Taylor Hellcat stuff ended up in North of the border! I am interested in purchasing two sets of parts so please drop me a note if you don't mind.

Does anyone have a cowl for a 65 to 72 inch F6F Hellcat. CMP or Taylor or Hangar9 or plan to self-build? Thanks
