stupid jato question
wondering if the differential on the jato 3.3 needs to be lubed, i see in the parts list it comes with there are like 5 different weights of oil , odd but when i took apart the diff there was no grease or oil in it, basically is it an oil free truck or what? and ill mention ive run about a gallon through it and have had no problems just wondering strictly for a maintenance basis

RE: stupid jato question
ok if there is diff fluid on the jato where do i put it in? i have just taken my jato rear end off, whole rear assembly off the main chassis, and looking at gars turning as i rotate the tires, isnt there supposed to be fluid in there?

RE: stupid jato question
Ok there really is no place to drain the fluid from. When you remove the diff it has 4 small screws in it. When you remove those 4 screws the diff cover will open and you will be able to see the spider gears and the fluid in the diff. If there is no fluid the seal probably went bad and it leaked out. Im gonna try and send you a link with an exploded view.

http://www.traxxas.com/products/nitr...to33_views.htm Here is the link. Click on the pdf file that says exploded view transmission and easy start. You will see an exploded view of the diff so you can see what I am talking about.

RE: stupid jato question
I mean 30. Now the Jato comes stock with 30wt diff fluid. I actually use 70wt shock oil in the diff and it works great and gives excelent traction. Im actually thinking now of using Mobil 1 grease in the diff to lock it.
