Thanks Mike, I know they do. I have the 3 cyl on my Saito 170 but I was wondering if when using a twin on board, You would have to common ground both engine blocks and run the glow to each cyl? How would that affect battery requirements?
Thanks! Pete

I have the Sullivan system on both my Sopwith Camel (Saito 100T) and the Super Stearman (Saito 170R) and they work great. The thing I was noticing for this airplane was the TwinSync which has the O.B. Glow option. Has anyone tried that? Seems it would be more appropriate, if it works okay.
As far as the ground on the Sullivan system, you would have to run a grounding wire between engines and I do not see that as an issue with the correct connectors.

Hopefully someone has tried this already and could help out a bit.

I received one last month and there was bowing on the horizontal stab, elevators and ailerons. They told me to send it back so I did. The replacement came and there are some other similar issues, but I'll just have to deal with them. Not sure how much of this type of wrpage would cause a problem on this bird. There are so many other surfaces - mostly fiberglass that affect lift that some of the minor bowing may not be an issue. I am keeping my eyes open for a scratch and dent 310 on Tower's site. I may just pick one up for extra parts.

Hi Mark,
Tempting. The only issue is that with my Tower savings, I got alot of money off of this plane and I doubt you could match that price. In addition, I was just involved in a major head on collision where the other young driver lost control of his vehicle, swerved into my lane and impacted me. I lost my car and have multiple injuries - including a broken leg which is keeping me from work. My car sustained $23k in damages, my insurance company is giving me $2900 for it![>:] Needless to say, I am in a real bind right now. If you indeed can offer me a super deal - PM me. Thanks.

I shaved down a couple ribs, It solved the problem. So what do you guys think is the best bet for an onboard glow system?
Also, could anyone direct me to pages in this thread which discuss a saito 82 setup?
Thanks, Pete

Pete,
Go with the twin sync. It gives you onboad glow drivers, engine out warning and the cool sound of perfectly sync'd engines.

Anyone notice that in the instructions it shows the hole to insert the wing bolt on the right wing, It also mentions it a few times, My ARF has the hole in the left wing [sm=confused.gif]

Not as a recommendation but what I did -> I had some Spektrum DS821's (72oz-in) digital servos that I used for everything except the JR NES-537's on the throttle. The throttle should not be an issue and they are 40 oz-in as recommended. That leaves money for the TwinSync, retracts, strobelites, etc. If anyone has other ideas or reasons why I may regret my decision I would like to hear it.
Thanks,

Thanks Olav.
To anyone who used Saito 82's, I don't have mine yet but ones shipping from CO this week and the others at my LHS, So Ill have them by this weekend. Im curious, Did you mount the throttle servos per the instructions? Looking at a pic of the saito 82 it looks like I'll have to drill my own throttle hole through the firewall and possibly mount the servo differently, Also did you run the flex exhausts? Looks like the muffler might be too close to the side of the nacelle. Again, I don't have the engines yet, I'm going by the pictures on horizon.
Thanks! Pete

I'm using the Robart retract kit (there are other brands)and it is just the gear, none of the air equipment required to drive the gear. You can order the Robart Delux Kit and a pump to get most of what you need. I needed extra 190 connectors and more tubing but that could have been me. I also have the doors activated with cylinders like some others have done. Working retracts for this bird are expensive but very nice and I would not do it any other way.

I found a post on the 82's. Guess I'll be getting some flex exhaust and making my own throttle servo mount. Thats kind of lame that the retract kit doesn't come with everything you need .

Hello all, Looking back at the review of this aircraft noting that they said it would be interesting to stop it on an asphalt runway...What about using one of the Du-Bro nose wheel brakes ? Is this possible, and has anyone put the OS .55's in one....Looking for just a little more power for the rarified air here in Denver...Thanks for reading...Kevin
