But anyway quitnas1 this is for you...............I took my tranny apart today after about 2 hours trying 2 remove a stripped screw I had. Finally went 2 auto zone and bought a screw extractor kit and in about 10 seconds I had it out wish I would have done that in the 1st place. But anyway......After taking it apart trying 2 figure out why it wouldnt shift into 2nd I realized it was what you said it may be. That little silver thing you talked about in the pic you posted...Well sure enought hat thing had snapped off so the clutch had nothing 2 grab and engage. The thing that sucks is that I just spent 35$ on a new diff and clutch and it turned out 2 be fine. So I just had 2 ordered a new clutch gear. I hope it gets here in time. I am moving in a week so I'll be F*C#ED if not. Gotta love RC man. Thanks for the onfo tho. After going thru all this with the tranny I could prolly take it apart with my eyes closed.

Yeah I feel you on that bro. I took mines apart twice and Im pretty sure I could fly through it also now.Lol. Im starting to get some stripped screws also. What extractor kit did you buy?

Just go 2 a hardwear store or a automotive store and ask them about a scwer extractor set. The one I bought cost 10$ and it came with 5 bits in all different sizes and was perfect for prolly all the screws on the jato. all it is is a bit that has reverse threads and borrows into the screw and gets a good bite and pulls it right out. You will need a drill and make sure it is going in revese so it takes the screw out LOL

Thats funny. That happens 2 me as well. My daughter is 1 year and a half old and when I lose small peices of my jato and go crazy looking 4 them I never find  them 4 the most part. My wife will come up and ask "is this for you toy car" ( lol she hates that thing) My daughter will find it and be playing with it and we always catch her with something.

Got my jato going last week, maneged about 30mis of off road run around, then it suddenly got to a point where it would loose power and cut out the moment I pushed down on the throttle.

What is the most likley cause of this?

Oh forgot to mention, It would run if I left in the glow starter, could this mean that I need to put in a new glow plug, bearing in mind this was a brand new heavy duty traxxas one.

Check the glowplug first thing... try a OS nº 8! They work great!
Yeah man I got them fixed! work like a charm now... I took the Jato out today for about 3 tanks and had a blast just at my local park doing some jumping and high speed runs... Im SERIOUSLY thinking of getting that OS .18 TZ once my 3.3 dies... I WANT MORE POWER!!! hehehe

one question inside the receiver box there is a plug ,the plug is just like the charge plug but i do not know what it is for ,if it is for charging that makes things easier because the battery is tricky to get on ,thanks never mind i know what it is for i forgot it was there

my wife want to shoot my jato with her shot gun, went out and ran my jato on odonnels for the first time motor ran flawless seemed to get into the rpms quicker than i have seen it run,man it was screaming and it was hard to tell if it was shifting or not, it seems to run stronger on the odonnels r2r than the trinty monster and my brakes are killer

yeah, that's an xtra batt cable, works the same.

now i have a question tho. earlier in the forum i told a couple guys how some idiot drove my car too hard and over heated the motor and warped the head. now i have a new head and the engine RUNS.... but the throttle's jacked up. -another stupid mistake of mine when i was figuring out the problem, i busted about 5 inches of antenna cable off of my stock reciever. i replaced the reciever with an old redcat reciever and transmitter. i didn't find any problems with it and still have it in-. the car idles perfect but as i use any throttle the rpms jump around and i can't keep it under control. i got a suggestion from a friend that make sense, but i want to run it past u guys before i try it out: could the needle in the carb(hsn) be jumping when i rev? if it is , can i get a carb seperately or fix it without getting a new engine?
Thanks

have you checked the operation of the throttle with engine not running to see how it responds ,did it do this any other time, with the other radio, as for the carb you can get one off of ebay for less than 40 buck to your door; let me know what you find ,that is something i have not heard of.

the throttle is fine when the car isn't running, but when it's running something else may be causing the problem. of course, i really cant c if the throttle is wrking right when the car is moving....it didn't act up like this with the stock radio, but with the stock radio i didn't get good enough reception (due to me acting stupid) to test the engine out with the new head on. could it be the new head (i got the new "hourglass" RB Inovations head made for the 3.3)? i guess i'll mess around with different combinations of radios and recievers until i can figure out the problem.

Yes it could deffinetly be the new head you put on. even tho it says made for the jato....Being that it is not the actual company that makes the head for the jato they could have the measurments off by a tiny bit and that will effect your engine in a big way. Also it may not be the head. when you changed your head 2 the RB head did you take the shims from the old head and put them on the new one? If not that will cause a problem and if you did use the shims then maybe they are also damaged from the high heat caused from the engine over heating and you could have an airlleak from the head. The shims adjust combustion......2 many shims and you have pre-detonation............Not enough shims and you have detonation. Both are not good. for starters if you have not already go back 2 factory setting on the carb and start from there.

Sounds like it could also be set way 2 rich. What happenes when its set way 2 rich is as soon as you give it gas it soaks the glow plug and it'll lose power and most times die. Most times when you lose power on take off its cuz your low speed is 2 rich.
