I lost my Escapade last weekend because of orientation. I would suggest anyone who has one to put a different color on the bottom of the wing!!

Thanks Rich! I have to put a bit of the bright green on the bottom of all my planes but the war birds so I know wich ends up! That is one way I have fixed my problem. and they do not have to be that high anymore for me to get disoriented! Bob

I did epoxy the tail down. I don't think it is necessary to glue the wings together. There is no way they are going to fold with the tube it place. Just my .02 I will be changing the tailwheel out. I have a sullivan and a dubro laying around in the shop. Not sure what I will go with yet.

There was no reason for me to ever take the wings apart, I have a big enough hauler to be able to haul a 52.5 wing. I just was not worried about the size of the wing and I do agree that there is no big reason to do it! Epoxy the tail makes sence since they do come loose, I even double nuted it and it still would get a bit loose so it is epoxyed! The tail weight is under it though, I will have to stay with the same engine if this one stops or ad weight in front if I go to a lesser weight engine. It is a great airplane and am happy to have it in my hangar!   Bob

Does anybody already used the 11.5 X 7.5 Formula One Prop with OS .46AX on this plane?

Great thread on the forum and I'm really happy that I found it before starting my Escapade. I used many of the mods I found listed here including changing the tailwheel assembly. I've now flown it about 25 flights or so and I love the plane. It really handles well and looks fantastic in the air.

Some time back I found a deal on Magnum 52 four stroke engines and bought some. Since I had one, after breaking it in on the bench and being very satisfied with it I mounted it on the nose of the Escapade. For me, this is a great match and I would say that this quickly became one of the planes I fly weekly. For $99.00, this truly is a bargain and I've gotten many compliments on it at the field.

Thanks to all for all the great info posted here.

Yes I do, you are down low enough! Here in Wyoming the LA's do not produce enough power! Good luck and happy flying! You will love the plane! Bob

YES it is enough !!

I just put a 40 FP in mine. Same as the LA but a few years older. I wanted to improve the ground handling so decided to slow it down a bit. Anyway it flies just fine on the 40. I had a Irvine 46 in it and it was quite fast. You can always go to a larger engine if you feel "the need for speed"

I plan to buy a Escapade and put floats, but before I need to know the distance from leading edge to the front of fuselage. Someone has this distance? Thanks.

Hey Guys

I bought this plane thinking it would be a good plane to have on had to help others fly, but it's just sitting in the box, with a brand new Supertigre gs 40, servos everything excpet receiver and radio. Anyone want to buy it? I got 4 of the hitec hs 325hb's. Everything ran $200. This being said, I know this plane is now and often is on backorder, so I won't be willing to take low ball offers. I figured if somoene was out there waiting on one and is intersted in this set up I'd part with it, otherwise I'll finish it someday

Mine is the same as yours. I am installing an Italian ST 46 and it is a narrow engine. If a wide engine is installed then the adjustable mount would be spread farther apart to the right and the engine would be centered rather than to the left as my super tigre is.
ORIGINAL: Ms1095

Just got my escapade the other day. Took it out of the box tonight to look at it. Engine mount is way off to the left? Anyone else have his or hers like this. I'm guessing since it is one of those GP adjustable ones that the people on the assembly line just tightened it down wrong.
I did a review of My first flight yesterday. Go to user reviews, find & review products, Research airplanes, Find an airplane then any manufacturer Select Great Planes and enter escapade. My review includes a lot of the suggestions that are mentioned here. I did not have a problem with the tailwheel that other people mentioned. Make sure to CA the plastic piece that keeps the tail wheel from coming off. I put some Gorilla glue over the CAed wheel retainer for good measure.

I just flew my escapade for the first tim today and it flew AWESOME!! I did a lot of the modifications that I found in this forum. When I first read about this plane I was a bit overwelmed but after I started it wasn't so bad. My elevator was about a 1/4" off from each other so I had no choice but to cut it off and straighten it out allowing me to fix the ca hinges. I also wasn't too keen on just bolting on the rudder and the stab so I exopied them together then bolted it on the fuse. The tabs on the wings were starting to come unlaminated so I wicked some thin ca in them and put a clamp on over night. The one thing I did right away was move the CG 3" back from the leading edge. The plane only took 3/4 of a oz. on the left wing to balance out. When I put this in the air today I had to adjust the elevator trim a little and that was it. This plane flies great I would suggest to any one for a second plane. I have an ultra stick I was flying before this and I think I found my new favorite plane.

Hey Guys

I think I put a post up before, but I have this plane new in box and I'm going to be putting it on the classifieds. If you are interested let me know. I know it's out of stock a lot, but I have it now if you are eager to get it. I'm on to 3D flying, and was going to have this plane as a buddy box plane I could help others with, but I just don't think I'm going to give it much use

If you want to buy it with the SUPER TIGRE 40 and hi tec servos also, I bought it all together.

Let me know

Hi guys,
Just wanted to show my escapade on floats. This is my 1st time flying from water and the plane flew great even with the added weigh.

I cut the hinges on the elevator to verify the joiner and there was not one drop of glue, it came right out. I put some real hinges and epoxied the joiner in place. While I was there, I could not resist sanding it down to a nice profile. I also made a new rudder.
This really is a nice flying plane.

As you will see in the video, I am having problems adjusting my ST G51

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jdhLDUxUO8

Thanks for all the great info in this thread..

By the way, when I unpacked my escapade, one of the wing index tabs was broken. I called Great Planes and they sent me a wing set right away. They have good service...

Oops[:@] This was my own fault. We were having a spin contest and I pushed it to far. On the 37th spin I went to pull out b/c the tress were close. Well they were closer then I thought. It went below the tress and I tried to climb back out but it was to late. I did win the contest. However, my plane was in more pieces then most. Just got a new one from trpastor. Should be here tomorrow. I can't wait to get this in the air. I think I will take it easier this time.

Hello Lee:
are you using the A123 battery for your plane? Could you let me know your electric setup? Thank you!

ORIGINAL: YarSmytheJr

Maidened my Escapade (electric) yesterday. Had some minor issues with it but on the whole was happy with its flight performance. I need to work with the flaps a little more so they are effective and not a distraction.

Here are some pics prior to take-off.

Has anyone had problems getting their engine to run right because of the low position of the fuel tank? I have 7 flights on my Escapade now but the engine wants to die on an inside loop. It knife edges better than any plane that I have had before.
