RE: EasyTiger Models Tigerline X-29 Build
Nick I lost mine today, I think the cg is way off. It got it the air, I was pulling back on the elevators but not at full, it climbed out nice but once I went to make my turn it nose dived and elevator wasn't pulling it out. When I went to turn, I naturally loosen up on the elevator so the plane wont turn to tight, and just that little bit put it in a nose dive. That seems nose heavy to me. I think the cg should be measured from the leading edge of the canard not the intake lip.

Bummer Mike. We're Oh for two ! Did you seem to have enough air speed so it wasn't a stall condition? Did you have to hold a lot of UP to keep it flying once it left the ground? How was it at the point of rotation? Did you put the bigger nose wheel up front? Still debating on whether to try another one of these.

It had sufficent air speed, did put a bigger nose wheel. Rotation was fine, felt real nose heavy once it was in the air. I would leave this one alone, hopefully Bob has better luck, but even with the cg right it will still be a handful.

Mike,
Yours did lift off a lot smoother than mine and looked like it was going to be OK. In the begining of the video, it looked like you had more elevator throw than I did. Were you set for the 15mm up/down? Maybe with elevators and canards, it really doesn't need that much movement once airborne. I had quite a bit of expo dialed into mine for that first flight (or takeoff) for that very reason.
Not sure what's next for me.

I had about 17mm on the canard, and maybe 18-20 on the elevator, but I had a lot of expo dialed in. I was showing Bob my high rates also. That was a lot more maybe what caught your eye in the vid. I kept it on low the whloe try.

Looks like Mike's also. I'm going to use the CG that Daren worked out. Should be just forward of the wing tips.

I think you will find that is the answer.

bruff, that's what Arbo told me in the first place. But I also remember he did not have too much luck with his smaller x-29 last time around. At any rate wish you luck.
I must have misplaced & forgot about the folder with my X-29 Nitro & Hasegawa manuals at our last club meeting. Hope someone decide to return it.

As a ducted fan, you are correct. I believe it was thrust line issues back then. I later flew that airframe on the slope a few flights (crunchy things don't last long around here) and it flew fine. The canards were fixed and I used delta wing mixing for the controls.

Did the real have a 2+ deg. on the conard?

I like your bottom note about "try & try again", but to the Irish tune:
........Oh Donnie boy, the packs the packs are costly,
........The radio too, they certainly are not cheap.....
Cheers,

at least the x-29 looks a hell of a lot better than the supercat . still deciding whether or not to use the flimsy ducting or to use balsa to make a custom duct to fit around my tp-pro power 30c 3300 mah 4s so the plane can be balanced. let me know if you have tried the supercat or not, just wondering because i was deciding on the x-29 or the sabre as my next jet if this one works out just want some outside input other than from curtis.
