Hi Doublesixes
Could you or anyonetell me where I can find decals for theGoldberg Edge 540 (Red and Yellow).77Inch?I really just need the wing decals seem they were missing on purchase. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tanner1
ORIGINAL: doublesixes

My Edge has been rebuilt and I've been flying it since late November and still love how she flies. I spent about 4 or 5 days on the job during which I barely saw the sun and thanks to my girlfriend who fed me, I was able to pull it through.

The structural integrity of the fuse is about the same as before the crash albeit with a small weight penalty. Now I have about 1/4 inch gap at the left wing root where it meets the fuse due to a slightly bent wing tube but it's no big deal and I can work my way around it until I can get a hold of a new tube (I'd prefer CF).

I had some red and yellow covering from other projects that I used to replace the original and although the matching isn't perfect, it's close enough. The trim stripes were done with colored scotch tapes that my gf found who knows where. I had to use blue color as silver and black were not available and I kinda like it better. Luckily, the cowl was spared and the canopy suffered just a minor nick which I fixed with CA.
Pics to follow and maybe a video on Youtube.

You can download the instructions manual at TOWER HOBBIES and get the color numbers including the chekered one. I gotmy ones from them. Decals won't be easy to find.

hope it'll help

Sorry guys I am going to get this right. I need decals for the top of both wings (Goldberg edge 540 77") if they are called decals or if I have to do my own scheme (the yellow ect). The top of both wings are solid Red now. As I mentioned in an earlier post my Brother built this plane for me and as far as I know that's the way it came from dealer. Not sure as he is out of town. I appreciate any help I can get on this.
Thanks in advance,
Tanner1

Tanner, thats paper cote branded as MONOKOTE, ULTRAKOTE, etc... Enter TOWER HOBBIES, look for CARL GOLDBERG airplanes, look for the model (discontinued) and open the instructions manual and there you can find the code number of the color papers orpaper almost the same colors at your local hobby. You have to cut scheme and iron the paper on the surfaces.

Hi doublesixers, i just read you got your cowling as spare? Could you tell where you bought it ? Mine's being trough different engines fit situations and i better find a new one. BTW i'm on a DL50 inst'l project after the Fuji 43 blew the cylinder head. I had a DL on the bench so thats the one. Any tips would be appreciate.

Thanks Rod,
I forgot how much I paid for it. I sold off a lot of my unbuilt ARFs and was thinking of also selling the CG Edge. My work situation has changed and I don't have a lot of time for hobbies. Larry

Frankie,
I did not get a replacement cowl after my crash. Luckily it was one of the vital parts that did not get damaged. I had to really cut it up good in order to fit the DL50 inside but overall it looks OK. I would have preferred a Pitts style muffler instead of the original one. Maybe next time.
By the way, I am not flying the Edge anymore as I moved all the components, including the engine to an 87 inch Extra. The larger plane flies somewhat easier as it floats more. Nothing wrong with the CG Edge though, I love the plane but right now it's sitting empty in the hangar. Maybe the little DL30 is the ticket for it. Time will tell.
Good luck with your Edge.

I know this thread is old, But I have a ?. I just built this edge 540 with a thor 45cc. I am checking the cg upside down at the fuse at 4.6 inches from LE. It flies like it is tail heavy.
Am i checking the cg right or am I missing something?
Thankyou.

The Edge 540 is a mid-wing airplane. You can check the CG right side up. If it flies tail heavy, move batteries forward until you like it. These are neat flying airplanes. Seal all gaps and have fun.
Good luck,

Thanks guys, I have it within spec, so I guess this is the way they fly. I have flown many extras, caps, but never a edge.

I have flown a TOC 30% Extra 260, I do have right now a new 30% xtra 300 aerowork and believe me, my old carl goldberg 77" edge is the best for me to fly. Ihave flown it with a fuji 43cc's and then with a dl-50cc and no diference in the way it behaves. The cg being always around 4-5/8" (4.6").

Well I took the edge out again yesterday and all went well. I dont think it is tail heavy anymore, just the plane is real touchy and responsive.
Are you guys putting expo in your radios? I have none.

That might be your problem right there. When you get up to the larger scale planes the aileron\rudder\elev surfaces are much larger. If you can fly it now the way it is, just start adding 10% at a time until you get it 'dialed in'
