best battery for XYZ 26cc A engine
I do not have an operators manual and I need help deciding what battery to use with the XYZ 26cc A engine. Should I use a 4.8 or 6 volt battery. How much capacity (mah) would be appropriate?

this ignition works great on 4.8v and consumes about 150mAh per 10min flight.
I use 4.8v 1100mAh ni-cd battery with electronic kill switch that slightly decrease the voltage.

RE: best battery for XYZ 26cc A engine
I just received my XYZ 26 from Hobbyking and am in the process of mounting it to run. It's the A version with the blue housing
ignition module and it's marked as 6.0 volts and the instuction manual also specifies 6.0 volts and even gives a voltage range
of 5.5 to 6.7 volts. I would prefer to use a 4.8 volt 1500 to 2000 mah ignition battery and am wondering if this will work ok for
me. I should be ready to run this engine in a day or two and would appreciate any helpful comments. I remember the CRRC
26 engines originally specified 6.0 volts also but later changed to 4.8 volts because the voltage on a freshly charged 6.0 volt
battery pack was too much for the ignition to handle and there were a rash of failures. Don't want the same situation with the
XYZ ignition. I've had no problems with the CRRC engines on 4.8 volts and would like to do the same here.
Thanks,
Bob

Sound like you are on it. My understanding is that at 6V you draw more current with no advantage. I bought a bunch of NIMH AA cells from Harbor Freight Tools. They were About $6 for four. The rating is 2400 MAH or so. I soldered them in to 4-cell packs. They have worked fine.

Thanks a bunch for the info. I've read the same as you regarding 6.0 volts on ignition. I'll go ahead and run mine on 4.8 volts and
I'll post results. Nice looking engine.
