RE: Best video camera yet
What program did you use to process the video? Excellent quality!
I now have Adobe Premiere Elements 7, but to get decent quality the files are huge, at least with the formats and settings I have tried thus far.

RE: Best video camera yet
savage 40, thanks much for the assist!
[link=http://www.youtube.com/user/cmoulder#play/all/uploads-all/0/kVudOmh7Kwg]MUCH better[/link], but it did take a good while to render, and to upload to YT. This was my first effort with PE7, so nothing fancy. But, as I assumed, the program offers enormous potential... once I learn to use it.
HOWEVER, this is starting to look like the quality I was expecting, so now I can concentrate on getting a more stable camera mounting system. The waviness in the first part, with the motor running at a high power setting, was caused (I think) by flex/vibration in my motor pod, and yesterday afternoon I put some braces on that so it should be better in the future.

http://hobbywireless.com/cart/ has a 550 line resolution cam with a 900Mgz transmitter for 237.00 plus shipping. The video quality is excellent and the 900 Mgz Tx/Rx is perfect for using with a 2.4 Ghz TX/Rx for the plane without interference. If you want to record the downlinked video you can plug the video RX into a Pinnacle "Dazzle" then plug the Dazzle into your laptop via the USB port. The Dazzle comes with editing software or you can use your existing Pinnacle "Studio" editing software if you already have it.

The higher the lines of resolution from the camera(380 is ok but 550 is a lot better) and 30 frames per second is important for good video quality. The other important factor is TX/RX frequency and location of video TX in relation to motor and ESC.

RE: Best video camera yet
Sorry, I should have been more specific.
Actually I already have a video downlink (w/550-line camera) from futurehobbies, but it would be nice to be able to downlink the image straight from the Flip.
I have an adapter that plugs into my Fuji P&S camera that lets me downlink what that camera "sees", and I use Happauge WinTV to record to a laptop.
At present, looks as if I will have to piggyback the 550-line videocam onto the Flip if I want live viewing.

Do you use goggles or laptop? I have tried Fat Shark and Headplay goggles and found the video quality to be very bad. Also, I wear glasses and the Head play were the only ones I found to be adjustable for the seeing impaired. Video quality on both were equal to 3rd generation VHS.

Going to get some video this week and, along with my motor mount braces, the modifications should (hopefully!) make for some nice, smooth video.
