Billy, I though about our discussion, you need something like a servo (meaning feedback) on the wing sweep.

A switch activates the sweep, but a trimmer (like a dial or slider) controls total throw in sweep. So you set the trimmer slider to set the max sweep angle and then use the switch to take it from fully extended to the swept position with just a flip of the switch.

Only thing is you need feedback on where the wings are at any time, like a pot in a servo.

Anyway call me

EDF huh! What are you using for fan units? You got plenty of room for batteries

dyn-E-Max fan system with 2215/3y motors 6200w per side ... my weight is going to be 52lbs so 240 w/lb full power average flight at 200 w/lb will be 4 min. Im putting in my own intake ducts now.

That's not fair!!!

You have to experience what it's like to feed ALL your servo wires and air lines through the small voids around the fuel cells.

lol.. i was wondering how much free space their was to feed everything. What was the total fuel capacity for the F-14? 250oz?

Good guess on my part then. I agree that a fully proportional wing sweep system would be great.. i'm attempting to talk a friend in toronto who has a doctorate in electrical engineering to design up a system for my project.. but still no luck.

Congrats on a fantastic project Lowell. Billy, nice work by the "skin tight scrimp". I, for one, have come to expect nothing less.
Look forward to much more fun stuff in the future and look forward to seeing this black bunny in person in the near future.

Jim,
Do you have the size and weight of the boxes the F-14 came in? Appreciate if you could let me have them. Where did you get the parts etc. for the Dyn E max. I've tried writing to someone on this to convert my Yellow A4 and possible Yellow Tom cat to elect. Appreciate any Info. Thanks. Tom.

Looks great except for one minor detail, where are the missile rails for the Sparrows and Sidewinders? Gotta have them or the plane looks naked

Hi Billy and Lowell,

I am uploading a second video from Thursday. This video shows some of the per-flight work you did on the F-14. I think it shows just how careful you were to check all the details before taking her up. The video also shows a new version of your maiden flight with new editing in a style that is more art than product video. Should be up on PlaneVideoArt's YouTube channel later to day. By the way not to change the subject but we have released our new DVD from LA JETS, titled LA JETS "Pushing the Limits" you can see a per-view on http:/www.planevideoart.com on the DVD sales page. Thats for letting me do a shamless plug!

Enjoy!
