Hotbodies D8 and v-spec
Does anyone use the stock air filter of the D8? I have a pro-line low-profile filter that has cheaper replacement filters. What do you think?

I would not use the stock filter, it is a bad design ......... use a conventional filter if you can, OS makes a very good one that I would recomend.

what's wrong with the stock filter ?
PSR makes replacement filter's for All makes and models....but now that i check they dont make a "HB" labaled one...but the stock foam looks pretty similar to the Proline version...i dunno i dont see what the problem with the stocker is.... [sm=confused.gif] as long as a filter is clean and properly maintained i dont know what can exactly go wrong.

the foam is very thin, so it doesn't have much are to seal against the plastic casing..JT's filter has already pelled back a little and allowed dirt into his engine...... I hate any of the oblong oval filter with thin foams, they dont seal as well as the standard thick round filters....the D8 filter kind of looks like the stock Hyper ST filter....IMO a very poor design that is prone to letting dirt in around the filter....

I'm using Losi filter but it's not perfect. The assembly hits the linkage.
I'm going to try the OFNA filter neck thast points the filter to the rear instead of the front and see how that works out.

trackman (on RCU) showed me a neat trick to solve that. Insert a short piece of PVC tube in it to stiffen it up.

Interesting....i guess that would work...if you didn't tear it trying to get it in. [sm=lol.gif]
Ive had 1 losi neck fail on me from improper use...so i don't fold or pinch my necks any more for good reason.

I don't like the stock filter either, it rubs on the body and pushes dirt into the foam.
Has anyone used the Proline Low-profile filter on a D8?
I was thinking about getting one and using the Powersave filters on it.

they are overly big and the Thin foam element that caps the end of the filter imo is too thin and allows fine particulate in the filter....granted this was a while back and during the RTR basher Savage days...but never the less...i would not trust a motor saver on my motor's at the track where imo a filter gets 10X dirtier then just bashing in the yard or at a park.
