Do you guys have any idea which size the engine ball bearings are?

I was going to change the piston/sleeve and discovered that the rear ball bearing lost its seal and let go one little sphere.

Hy Muck76, I just brought a CEN MG16 and i`m a bit confused regarding the base settings:

I have downloaded the engine base settings file from the internet as above:

Top End:

2-2 1/2 turns out

Bottom End:

1 turn out from flush

Idle:

1mm gap

Temperature:

220-240 degrees Farhenheit

what means on top end: 2 - 2 1\2 turns out? from flush or what?

Thanks,
Codrin

the top end needle is your high speed needle. You turn the needle in until it seats, then turn out the 2-1/2 turns. Bear in mind that setting is really rich. If you are breaking the engine in and having a hard time with it, you can tweak it in an 1/8th of a turn. Once set at the stock settings, turning in is leaning it, turning out is richening it.

The low end needle is the idle setting or low speed screw.
If you hop onto traxxas web site and look up a manual for a 2.5 engine, that break in procedure worked well for me with this engine.

Good luck and feel free to ask more questions.

I usually run between 240 and 260. Top needle is set about 1.5 - 2 turns out.

Factory settings feels like too rich for me, almost bogging the engine.

it will bog, that is break in setting. Your HSN setting you mentioned sounds close to what i had when break in is done.

Where did you put the lipo, what body is that, and i did not know the CEN .18 had a blue head... how does the .18 work with the muffler?

hey!!
the lipo is in the same batery compartment, I just had to grind the AA battery guides out. The battery is a losi 2 cell 7.4 1000 Mah battery (even had space leftout). I got the body from a guy on ebay, if you are interested you'll have to search on ebay UK and search for a 1/16 scale lexan body as it doesnt show with the name of the truck (it was like $25 with the shipping). I didnt konw Cen had that blue head eighter, I ordered the motor through their website and that was the .18 they shipped. Speed wise is about the same as the .15 but the response from the .18 engine is much better trhoughout the entire throttle travel. The muffler responds a bit better with the dual string but you have to put some small restriction to them or other wise the engine will bog at high RPM (in my case I used a couple of plastic ties) but if you are interested on a racing pipe that fits this truck check out HPI part#85057 and it will fit well using the CEN flexible exhaust manifold. This pipe will make the truck run better than anything else but because it will be a bit tight in there it will tend to overheat and damage the body.

I discovered that the HPI roto start for the S25 motor from my Savage bolts right up as long as you use the HPI S25 one way bearing.
No more pull start!

i used the tower st 15 manifold into an old 1/8 u shaped manifold i cut the end off that goes on the engine into a xtm excelerator tuned pipe it is attached to the rear shock upper outside hole with a peice of old stainless bicycle spoke i always use the old spokes because you bend them anyway you want and they stay like that it almost looks like the exhaust on the hot saws that they use in the lumber jack competitions and it sounds great im going to look up those wheel extensions now ill let you know how i make out also i mounted a hump pack stradeled across the wheely bar up against the back of the truck kind of like the old stdium trucks once i get going on something there is no stopping me

what did you use for a pressure point for the fuel tank? Any pics?

A RX Lipo would work great in the truck and allow less weight of a 5 cell nimh pack on the rear.

the stock excelerator pipe is tapped in a perfect spot the nipple faces the top of the left rear upper wheel well just dremeled about 3/8 of an inch to run the hose out into the nipple i saw the extensions do i have to buy two sets to get a complete set of 4 rear extensions because the mg 16 is4 wheel drive also they only show for the stampede vxl are these the ones i need

you do need 4 rear total to make it work.

The ME16MT official thread i started has a link with in the first 4 pages of the extensions and what it looks like.
I just used wider off set rims and that worked for me.

ORIGINAL: Wheelnut

Razdawg, sounds like the grass needs cutting I run mine in some thick grass with no problem. Get some new wheels and tires and that will help. I ordered some 2.2s wheels and the Gladiator tires. I also ordered a set of the Stampede 2.8 wheels. The only problem was that the rear wheel was rubbing the chassis very slightly. I am thinking about getting a set of these wheel extensions from E-Bay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/14MM-WHEEL-EXTEN...QQcmdZViewItem

Other than that, you can get some longer shocks. I believe the Stampede rear shocks are longer and will give you more travel and more height.

The link does not work, but look at the heading to get your search
