RE: clutch help
Get the XL shoes off e bay, they are aluminum, last a long time and have good performance, and you can find them for a decent price. My 2 cents

RE: clutch help
I'm running Dynamite DYNP5180 Max-Life shoes on the XL.
Time will tell.
EDIT - I should say gallon #7 K5.9. Third set of shoes.
Stockers lasted 4? gallons, plastic HPI shoes lasted 2 gallons.

RE: clutch help
Dynamite Max-Life shoes are the best. They are made from a silicon-aluminum alloy, and the very high silicon content makes them very wear and melt resistant. It also makes them brittle, so be careful installing them.
My 2nd choice would be Mugen aluminum shoes, they are pretty decent.
I wouldn't suggest HPI aluminum shoes, as they are made from a soft aluminum alloy, and tend to wear quickly.

hmmmmmmm so 4-6 gallons is quickly? Nice, so the Dynamite shoes should last quite a bit then. I like the convenience of having everything in one package while getting the XL shoes off ebay.

RE: clutch help
I had 8 gallons on a set with minimal wear, running a Picco 26. I have 3 gallons on the current set, and although the black anodizing is gone, there is no noticeable wear on the metal. 4 gallons on a clutch before complete failure is terrible IMO.

no, no, I meant I have that many gallons on the XL shoes NOW, while they are still good. wow, I may have to give those Dynamite shoes a try then. Link to the springs you use, or can the XL springs be used for good performance?

RE: clutch help
My XL springs popped off right away and locked up the CB, I could have probably tweaked them and made them work.
Instead I just used the springs from the plastic HPI shoes and they work okay.
I think someone here told me they use 1.0 or 1.1 springs but don't quote me on that.

Does it move the groove the springs sit in to a different location to line up better?
