Experimental Drop Plane
I just picked up a Chief Aircraft Experimental Surplus Plane to create a drop plane. I will probably put it on the shelf for the time being, as I currently have a BTE Superflying King which is a great drop plane. But this Chief plane looks like it would work great, they had only two of them and won't have them again, so I thought I would go ahead and get one.
Specs:
http://www.chiefaircraft.com/rcmsec/...t/Surplus.html
Composite fuselage, wings & stab
Engine box is built and installed
Hinged with Robart type hinges
Minimal hardware included
Wingspan: 146"
Horizontal Stab: 58"
Wing Area: approx 2800 sq in
Engines: 80-100cc
My SFK has a DA100 and flies great.
I included some pictures of the SFK and the Chief Experimental Plane

RE: Experimental Drop Plane
They don't know for sure the ones sold to the canadian government were loaded full of atmospheric testing instruments. The expect just built up for R/C to be around 28lbs.

RE: Experimental Drop Plane
No I haven't.
It is sitting the garage. I only intend to build it in case I ever need it. The Super Flying King is a great drop plane. The chief plane was unique and looks to be a great drop plane, so I just couldn't pass it up. If I hadn't already had the SFK It would be the perfect plane.

With the DA 100 I can haul 3 jumpers up to a spec in the sky in a single lap around the field. It has awesome performance. 5 jumpers would be no problem.

RE: Experimental Drop Plane
I have decided to sell the experimental plane I bought from chief.
I just don't have the time to build it and the SFK is a great plane, and I really don't do much skydiving anymore.
Everything is still boxed up just like I got it from Chief. It is all composite and the specs are listed in the first post.
I would like to get $800. I don't really want to ship but will do so greyhound at the buyers expense.
I will drive 200 miles or so from the Atlanta area to deliver the aircraft.
