Yeah, I'm all over the place! OK, except scale, sail and electric........
Instead of an Aquacraft .15 I'd find something with a little more oomph as you'll end up by putting in a hotter engine anyway down the road.
I see a lot of guys in here wanting to put different engines in the JAE .12 but if you ever have plans on racing one sometime you're going to get tossed in with the .21 'riggers. There's a lot of .12's around that will do the job and be faster than many .15's, .16's and .18's.
Don't underestimate the potential of what a .12 can do, I've been playing with them for around 10 years now, yeah, long before they got as popular as they have been the past few years.

I bought my first .12 mono around 1998 and have still got it. I still have 3 yet and sold another. Also, the JAE isn't my first .12 'rigger as I've built 2 of those but they're long gone. I've spent a lot of both good and bad money trying to get them to perform finding out what does and doesn't work.
Oh, I've also got a Sport .12 hydro that has yet to see water and since been kind of gutted for parts on the JAE. Most were made-for-electric hulls converted over for nitro use.

Ron, you'd love the lil .12 roundnose in our club.
It was built by Chuck Geisen over WI (there are IW pics of it - it is greyish-silver w/black striping). He sold it to a friend of his in our club who has gotten it running, and raced it the last 2 races of the yr.... with our .12 riggers!! The thing just keeps getting faster. The last race of the season it was running typically in 3rd or 4th place each race out of 6 boats.
Chuck's busy building another I hear....

RE: AquaCraft .15 Marine
I thought most of the A-rigger guys were putting air cooled engines in those riggers...no??
There is an air cooled .15 CV that is still available from OS...it is a buggy engine and costs about $100.
But as Ron said, there are more powerful .12 engines out there. The OS .12 TG (though I don't think it is available in a full threaded shaft) is about the same price, and has more power...just as an example.
Of course if you really wanted to step up on power, you would need to get a hold of Glenn Quarles who sells Nova engines in the US. I think his .12 is about $160 and would run circles around both of the engines I have mentioned, and around any moded AQ .15...

Sean, here's kind of what going on right now. The water-cooled NR is the engine of choice but Glenn is getting in some air-cooled heads for them. They sort of look like a plane head but with larger fins. I'm rethinking mine now as although I do have the Solinger rudder I may try an Octura and solder or JB Weld a pick-up tube on the back of it. A prop blast pick-up also went through my mind but there isn't a lot of room on the transom to do a lot of work. I'll come up with something as the wheels are turning now! [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]
From what I understand from picking up the occasional RC car rag, the OS TG was kind of a disappointment as a replacement engine for another series.
Glenn had to raise the price of the Nova Rossi .12 up $10.00 more to now $165.00 but it's still the best buy there is if you want the hottest .12 boat engine around. Compare the Nova Rossi car/truck engines and see what they want for those!
