What kind of connector came on the Turnigy? I just ordered one for myself and don't know yet what adapter I'll need, or if I want to try my hand at soldering just yet.

They came with the big red bullet style connectors. They can't sell them with Deans anymore for legal reasons. The power wires coming out are huge, makes it a bit more fun to solder them

I purchased a Rhino 5s1p 4900mAh 20c pack, and have 2 cycles on it. I run it in my 8ight-t truggy. I use a castle creations mamba monster ESC. after setting the low voltage cut off to 3.0v or 15v for the pack. i had the cells drop to 2.97 and a few that were at 2.74. with that said i will now set LVC to 3.2 or 3.3 just to be on the safe side. I was able to recover all 5 cells, the pack works great so far. i was able to get a full 5200mAh into not the 4900 rated and it appears to be closer to 25C then 20c. Awesome pack so far, and i bash this sucker around an outdoor off-road track. We shall see how it holds up. Also I purchased a Turnigy 4s1p 5000mAh 25c pack ZERO issues same 2 cycles on it so far, it holds closer 5500mAh and around 30c. I will def purchase more of these packs.

Just a note mentat, on brand new LiPo, they recommend breaking it in properly in order for you to get the best performance and longevity. You shouldn't run it much over 50% of it's discharge capacity, and only charge at 1C for the firsrt 4 or 5 cycles. After that, should be good to go.
All of mine work great so far, and several of the club members I fly with use them too, all seem to be ok.

OK here is my experience with Zippy-H

Battery: Zippy-H 3300mAh 20C 5s
Static current 55A (17C)
I usually don't discharge more than 80-90% of the capacity

First signs of shorter flight times occurred after about 80 cycles
After ~130 cycles I got 60% of the original flight time

60% of capacity should also be a standard to determine the life of a battery .

I have a rhino 3s in my Cap9 tx. I'm very pleased with it. In my planes I use Turnigy. They are a little cheaper than rhino but very good lipos. I have done more than 50 cycles with 5 of them, which are 1 x 3s 2200 , 2x3s 1300 and 2x 2s 1300. They are still good. no loss in capacity or performance.

That isn't so, you can purchase ace lipos and all manner of other chinese ones off ebay or lots of places
that still use the fake deans type connectors.

I was referring to Hobby King/Hobby City. They were contacted by Deans and told to stop selling their connectors, and all replicas of their connectors due to patent infringement. I will say this though, the last several batteries I ordered still came with the deans, so it might have been a left over batch, but they don't sell them anymore. As far as E-bay or anywhere else is concerned, I'm sure you can still get them with deans.

I have 3 1050 mahs 3s 30C Rhino packs. Have used them for 6 months or so and I use them a lot with my small Yak 54 (300 grams). I really abuse them as this bird became my 3d trainer.
Great power even after over 600 cycles each.
My secret for their longevity is never exceeding 5 minutes flights and balance all cells with every charge, never above 1 amp.
