Look'n good. I still have mine that I built in 2002. It's never been flown and unfortunately probably never will. a few years ago my step son cracked the right rear stabilizer at the fuce. So mine is just a neat looking hanger queen. I need to pull that OS 32SX with Mac's muffler out one of these days. That's a lot of money sitting in a plane that will never fly!

Very nice looking HOB A7. She will make a nice display model or repair the cracked stab. You might cut out the broken stab and install a new one. All you need is a sharp xacto knife and/or electric dremel tool. That's really an easy repair compared to fixing a crashed model.

Well, I have got the motor situation figured out! What do you think? Since it lands hot anyway, might as well get one REALLY good flight out of it! All kidding aside, I have spent too much time building and have neglected my little daughters. Their hair has grown out and everything! I need to take them for a hair cut, I guess!
lear31A, Is that a real miniture turbine? What do you have planed for it?

I noticed you were selling the OS 46FX in the classifieds. Have you decided to get a smaller engine for the A7? I think a lighter engine is best. You might check the weights of the smaller engines if you buy one. Some are considerably lighter than others.

I hope you don't have any more allergies and soon continue your build thread. Not sure why I've taken so much interest in your thread. Guess because I miss building. I can't get to my building board. It's become covered with auto parts. I must organize things so I can build one of my kits.

I got the 1st stage of covering on, just need to do the camo stuff. Here is where I am now:

Here is something close to what I am shooting for:

Now for the down side!!! I lost the canopy and have no idea on the best way to make a new one. I was hoping to find an old one for sale with no luck :-(

Nice job Boomer!

You may want to check richuravitch.com for plastic parts on this. I beleive the HOB kit is derived from the Rich Uravitch design.

Altus,

Is that a plastic kit that you are trying to model after? How are you going to do the panel lines? Are you going to go with green covering on top of the base gray? I found that Robart actually makes retracs for this model. That's very tempting. Has anyone built flaps on one of these?

Our local guard unit here in Iowa was I believe the last place these planes were in service. We always sorta laughed how unimportant we were to be using them when nobody else did.

I can't tell you how many thousand times I've watched them flyby.
They are a very distinctive plane with some real character.

The funny thing is there is one mounted on a post practically in my cousins garden ..or what was his garden when I was a kid....

A good friend of mine flew ducted fan models for BYRON back in those days ..he actually scaled up a plastic model and built a plug for a large ducted fan version. I think that plane is still sitting on a rack in his house...

Update...

I wanted to do it in the Nellis AFB 4450th sq as pictured from the model kit 3 or 4 posts above but the decals were giving me fits, so I just did it in a fictional Hill AFB scheme. I could not find the canopy and resorted to using one from the HL A-7 EDF for now, (I see today the post above here that has it!!! THANKS!!!) but overall I am happy. I really suck at monokote but I am happy with the result. I just need to set the CG, break in the motor and see if it flies. If it does ok I am going to redo the covering on th nose and go from there but after 7 years, I am ready to see it go up. My only real complaint to this point is the CG! I have a big sq battery in the tail and it will still need about four oz to come even close. She sure is nose heavy with the G-34!!

Thanks again for the link above for the canopy, I will have it ordered Monday (hopefully post test flight)

I should put the decals on my non-flying example of a Corsair-II.

Dude best of luck with your maiden flight. This plane has a life expectancy of two flights based on the ten of us that got them when they came out. On your first flight fill her up with fuel and enjoy a nice long flight that first time.

Oh my! Why were you only able to get in two flights on the model? Can you provide specifics?

LOL I don't have ANY flights on mine that's why it's still around.

Lets see if I can remember,

Three planes where destroyed on take off runs. you got a 20 size plane witch are squirrely enough but this plane has a nose gear mounted back behind the cockpit. Another tree planes staled out and crashed on landing. You got to land this on a little hotter than a trainer. One guy couldn't get his to take off of a grass runway so he tried a hand launch. That didn't work out to well. The last two where "radio glitches".

I'll just keep mine hanging up.

What a coincidence. I've had one of these hanging in my hobby room for quite some time. I just got it down Saturday. I bought an OS 32 to put on it, but now I'm thinking about setting it up for electric power. I haven't flown anything that squirrely in quite awhile. I've pretty much been flying my "Old Guy" planes. It should be interesting when I get it in the air.

I've been following this thread as the A-7 interests me. I used to fly the real one in my younger days. Just curious if anyone has seen plans or a kit for one that might be more in the 70 inch wing span sizie? Maybe something for a 1.25 sized engine. Just curious.

I think it would be cool to scale one up for an inverted rear-exhaust .60, with a tuned pipe exhaust hidden in the fuse, coming out the tail.

Where is the CG located? I have one which I plan on flying sunday-the cg will determine where my battery goes.

I have the manual but don't have the plans. I checked and it said "CG, Refer to plans" Grrrr!

I do have the control throws if you need them.
