Maidened mine yesterday with the CG set at 140, flew perfect. It nearly ended up in a disaster as it took all of the runway to rotate. The previous owner had put some longer springs in the mains, I have now removed them to have a more positive attitude on the ground. Also my nose wheel was not perfectly straight and was probably dragging a bit and the wind was blowing 90° accros the runway.

JPsceadu, I plan to bring it to Amiens next Saturday, how about some formation flying?

Special thanks to seravios for the gear doors!

Thank's to one of our club member Laurent here's a low res video of the scary take off...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m74Hd...eature=related

That was some scary take off [sm=eek.gif] It seemed to pick up speed quickly but then not get off. Will the C.G. at 140mm be the same for the Bae Hawk as it is for the T-45?

Thats quite a short field you have there, suggest you ramp up the turbine and hold on brakes for take off, also there does look like some drag somewhere, maybe the nosewheel as you say, anyway congratulations, Gary.

hello everybody
today two successfull flights with my t45! I don't know why jet legend says that it's not designed for the p80 because it's perfect whith it!!
but I have to learn how to land it not too fast because I broke the support of the nose wheel on the second landing! so no formation fligth on saturday sorry Rider-60!
but I'll fix it and fly again as quick as possible. juste one thing it still a bit nose heavy so I'll moove a little the CG back for next flignt.
but it's a very nice plane!!!

someone took a video of the first take off I'll post it as soons as I recieve

I think that I'll try at 145 because in inveted flight I have to correct quite a lot but for first flight 140 is perfect I think! But the heavy ose for take off is due to the main wheels behind the CG

Congratulations, let's do the formation flights later then...

I've mixed some crow braking on the ailerons, not much 3mm up it helps slowing it down.

Do you guys use flap to take off or not?

Thanks,
I have the L 39 with a 120 and need an 80 class jet. The T 45 looks like a good choice.

A P80 is actually quite a large engine for the Hawk/T45, needs a bit taking out of the engine mounts, easy mod.

Flies well though, handy power for t/offs and verticals.

Cruises around on half throttle a treat.

Quite a few guys using that particular engine, Gary.

Thanks Gary,
Sound like a great mid size plane.
Right now I have a Boomerang XL and the L 39 , both large planes and not easy to transport and assemble at the field.

Okay its alot of pages in the thread and I could not bring myself right now to read them all LOL...so I will just ask my question. How many servos are required for this bird and will a P-60SE be a tad under power for it? It does not say on their website what the specs are and I need to order some stuff.

Thanks

A P60 will fly it scale like, a friend of mine had one with a Wren 54 MK III.
If you want outstanding performance then a larger turbine will give it to you...for example a 19 Lb thrust Rabbit

You really should read the thread...there is a ton of good info

Errr, actually there are enough differences in the wing tips and fuselage strakes etc that they could affect the CG.

Not the same airframe.

Not joking. A different wing planform means a different centre of pressure which means a different CG. The T45 also has fuz mounted tailplane LE extensions which the Hawk does not etc etc.

I was asking a simple question hoping that someone had flown a Hawk and could confirm the CG at 140 worked. I didn't expect sarcastic, ill informed and unhelpful replies.
