OPTION 1: Retracts with OFFSET STRUT. Can be mounted as drop in units, Offset
fork will only protrude approx 1/8" from the wingskin.
Instructions will be included to show how to drop retract down 1/8" to get it
flush with the skin. You can mount gear doors to these struts either way, and
at 1/8" it will not be noticeable when flying!

I have a Zenoah G20ei that I was going to put into a Hangar 9 F6f but then I found this P-47. Anybody know if the G20 would work it this plane? Thanks.

RE: NEW Top Flite .60 P-47D Gold Edition ARF
Hey guys. New to this forum and have limited time so can't read through all the postings so I appologise if this has already been addressed. Are any or all of the arf parts compatible with the gold edition kit? In process of building the kit and thought if I have a mishap on miaden maybe I can replace parts with arf stuff such as a wing or cowl etc. Any opinion on the o.s. .75ax as a powerplant for this bird? Thanks.

Hi guys I just picked the silver version P-47.
The ARF had been started but not finished.
Nothing glued, servos mounted and removed and pieces lost.
I downloaded the manual and set the plane on my work bench today.
How much nose weight is needed on these?
From what I've read here it's a little less than 38 ounces, is this right?
I have a brand new engine coming. A DLE 30. weighs in at 48 ounces.
I'd love to pair these up but it may be just to heavy.
It's suppose to turn an 18x8 at 8940.
So what do you think?

I'll have to re-think this a little.
I have a 25cc Toro that Scott from Brillelli Machining did in June of 07 for me.
It really runs strong and weighs in at 39 ounces.
I had it in a 60 size Tiger Moth with no added weight.
It took off in 10 feet.
I'll save the DLE-30 for my 120 size Tiger Moth.
By the way light poles are hard on aircraft.

Flew the maiden! Wow, what a fine looking bird screaming low and fast, just how I'd hoped. The Thunder Tiger F-91S combined with a Master Airscrew 14 x 6 prop absolutely makes this plane rip! Half throttle is just perfect for scale flight and full throttle flybys are stunning. The sound is awesome.
The recommend high rate throws for the ailerons are a bit conservative which make rolls a little too slow. I'll increase them by an 1/8 to a 1/4".
The plane slows down really well and flaps would only be needed if I was flying on a shorter runway.
No video of today's flight, but I should have video of tomorrows.

Gents,
I picked one of these up the day it came out and never got around to it. But during the holidays I'll be able to get at it. Does anyone see any issues why I shouldn't glass this model? I want to paint her and add panel lines and rivets. It'll be my first scale project. Thanks.

Just picked up one on Friday and Ihave to admit it's a beautiful ARF. Should be finished with the build tomorrow and then the weather determines when it gets it's maiden flight. Although converted mine to electric. E-flite power 90 with 5000mah 8S, 100amp ESC with seperate 3000ma 2S pack for the radio. This is my first TopFlite ARF and the quality really stands out. Did spend a couple of hours removing bubbles and wrinkles but those are the only problems (not really a problem - gives me a chance to become one with the plane) encountered.
Almost wishing I would have gone with the large P47 now...

Hey all,
Almost done with mine except for the engine install. I have a g20ei that I am using but even mounted to the box on the firewall, it is short by about an inch to clear the prop washer. How would you all recommend getting the clearance? I went out to B&B Specialties thinking they might have a radial engine mount that stands off the firewall but it appears they are flat. Would it be best to remove the stock box and build a bigger one? Are there standoffs available for something like this? Thanks for the help. I will post pictures soon.

Plane is finished - with the exception of final paint and decal touchup for agin. Very sweet looking plane. Off to the Boeing Museum of Flight for a Model Show before it's maiden flight... Was really impressed how realistic the radial engine looks - overall.. I have to hand it to Top Flite for an exceptional ARF.

Aww .. you dog you beat me too it!!
Mine is still on the bench... I bet it was amazing on 10s!!
I'm just going 8s ... I'm weathering mine and taking to much time messing with it
I really hope to have it done in the next few weeks... but I'm going to a jet rally in arizona so that will slow me down
getting ready for it and being gone...
Don did you guys get some video? where did you have to run your packs... do you think 8s will balance with the packs on the stock tray?
later bud.... hope your doing great it's been awhile
sorry I didn't get back to you sooner I didn't see your post until now

Is anyone using the spinner right on the prop.
The norm would be nut plus a locking bolt.

Question for you guys running electric. I saw a statment where a 6s brick will not fit in the hatch area, is that true? I have the TF P51 flying with a Eflite 60 and 6s and it flies great and was considering the same combo on the P47. Would I be better off getting 3s packs and putting them side by side? My P51 was built prior to knowledge of the hatch so I have to take the wing off to swap batteries which can be a pain. I used Robart mechanical on the P51 but am going to try the Century retracts in this one. Thanks, Jerry.

How are the stock retracts holding up?
I fly off a paved runway.

They're doing ok now but there is a lot of slop.

Question for you guys running electric. I saw a statment where a 6s brick will not fit in the hatch area,
right now I can only fit a 4s 30c 5000 in the stock tray.. so I'm going to run two 4s 30 5000 for 8s
I have the packs so I went that route... I'm not sre 6s will give great performance in this plane
I run 6s brick packs in my hanger 9 P-51 with a hacker A50-12L and have really nice performance... but that plane is only 8.5 pounds
this will be closer to 10 pounds ready to fly...maybe 11 ... so I'm going 8s with the A50-16L ... hope that helps
Ron
