I am looking for a small ARF for a Magnum .30 FS engine. It can be a high wing trainer, low wing sport even a pattern type. I have looked at the Phoenix Sonic .25 high and low wing planes. Are there any others out there that would be a good choice for this little engine?

We'll this winter I'm going to put a Magnum .30 on an E-Flite stick 25e. Should be a great plane for the little 30.

nitromodels has some .25 size arfs. i have never bought one so i do not know about the quality. i just put a maiden flight on a sonic low wing with a magnum .28 2 stroke. hobby people use to carry some .25 arfs but i do not think they have them anymore. sadly over the years 25 size arfs have lost their popularity. world models has .30 size pattern plane. i think its called a zen 30

I looked at Airborne-models. They have a couple that would fit the bill. I like the trainer they have. It is a standard high wing design like the old PT trainer or the Tower trainer. It is $7.00 for an ARF. I just want something to cruise around the sky. I think I will order the Air-borne models .20 sized trainer.

Now I just need (3) HS-82MGs and an RX. SHould be fun to see the little 4s pull this around.

Look for .15 two-stroke designed models. Current .25 sized models are designed for two-strokes, which are much more powerful than anyone's four-stroke .30 sized engines. Yeah, I know it is difficult to impossible to find .15 sized models any longer. I'm glad I bought a few .15 sized ARFs from AK Models before they disappeared from the line up.

If you hand launch, or takeoff from a smooth surface, the four-stroke .30 engines will fly the .25 two-stroke sized models, but they will be low on power.

I have this model with a Saito .30 and it is great. You can't get the "green models" version anymore but the little Tiger Moth sold by Hobby Lobby is the same other than the color of the covering. Very intricate and detailed model for the size.

I am sort of leaning towards the Phoenix low wing planes as a general all around flyer. I think the Edges would need a little more power then a 30FS engine. The 30 may fly them but I do not think it would have much extra power to do the vertical they need. I could go for a trainer for the recliner type flying. Just put around doing touch and goes. Nice relaxed flying. The Cubs may be OK too. I would need to get some wheel that look like they belong on a Cub.

Still trying to find reviews of these planes. I like the idea of the Edge 540's, but I think they would need a hot .25, .28, or .32 to preform to their fullest. I think the pusher jet would be good, but not sure the little 30 would push it fast enough.

Not sure the E-flite would handle a 30 sized four stroke engine. At 38 inch span, it might be a little small for the added weight of the engine.
