Hey Guys
Im new to RCU, so prease excuse me if i post this wrong.
Im new to outboards, I have a 1/4th F1 tunnel that i am building but am stil trying to decide wether i want a inboard or outboard, the outboards look realy apealing.
I see everyonce has these "g morty legs" can anyone tell me where i can buy one?
Is there any other brands of gas outboard legs? and where can i buy them from?
Have the chinese made one yet?? haha

Hey Foamworks
I have been looking at your hulls on TM look good.
I have the same hull got it a few years back and put a Gmorty leg on it. I will look up Gregs (Gmorty) email for you. He is great to deal with and prices are good.
He sold me a complete used engine/leg/pipe for a very good price and has no problem sending parts over.
Cheers .

Hey Foamwork,
Frankly, you have to decide going with IB or OB. You can build a smaller dimension tunnel for IB for max performance. But for scale look with OB you have to match the overall dimension to the OB units hanging off the transom. I have already built one from scratch for OB but not sure whether the dimension is good for the OB. I'll know when I have the OB unit in my hand .
Rgds.

Dominic,
I am trying to send you an important message. Your regular e-mail address seems to be rejecting messages. Please send me an e-mail at my new address ([email protected]) so I can reply and hopefully get thru. Thanks,
Fred (Lawlessman)

RE: GAS OUTBOARD guys this is our new home
Foamworks my boat runs ok but not that fast.
I have had this setup for a few years, and not done alot with it,also being the first that I have built its probabley not set up the best.
I have only receantly started getting into it a bit more, but with work and every thing else going on, time seems too be the biggest problem.
Hopefuly I can get into it some more and there seems to be more and more intrest in them.
Are you building the hulls your self?
Also I wanted to say Hi to everyone else on this site, I am learing heaps after comeing across it!!
Cheers

RE: GAS OUTBOARD guys this is our new home
Hey
I want to do a little experimenting with the hull.
I have a 35cc QD that i might put in it. The engine is just sitting on the shelf because i cant find a hull big enough for it.
I want to get into F1 tunnel racing though. it looks real apealing.
Cheers

Hi Foamworks, welcome to the forum and a special welcome to 1/4 scale F1, especially if you chose to go outboard.
There are a number of brands available :
We have available stock of 3.
The G Drive Lawless. which is a US product and has been around for some time and must be the greatest in number.
The G Morty. which is an aus product and doing well.
Our very own X-Ray leg, made in South Africa, new to the market, but well tested in exstensive R&D and race conditions.
There are a few other good legs outthere, but I dont know if/when they are available
Let us know if we can help you with any product or info.
Remember to a;lways have a gas.
Kind regrds

Found Foamwork's ad at TM and it is a (copy of a) ¼ scale DPI.
I used the same (modified glassfiber) as testboat and am giving it a midlife update now.
Main change is replace the slide in radiobox with a hull-incorporated one, which I hope will be waterproof this time.
It will also go to the paintshop, to get rid of all the cracks and bruises that it got due to many blowovers and crashes.
Due to the swell at the water I normally test at, the boat has a tendency to flip from 50 mph, but (when the water was smooth) GPS topend with an M&D 231 has been 63 mph (so far).

Ivan,
Your friend Daniele Ghiraldi uses a DPI hull as well and is looking for an outboard, see [link=http://www.intlwaters.com/index.php?showtopic=36351]here[/link].
I like your lower but I think using 2 CMB 90's with pipes is very heavy at the back.
Anyway let the photo's come !
Ciao, Eddy

Hi Eddy
My hull is also a copy of a DPI. What is your engine combo? I think that you are getting alot more speed
than me!! Any set up tips that you would like to share? If they are not top secret!
Cheers Shane.

As I wrote in post #239 the powerhead was an M&D 231.
Of course the lower was our own VP (see post #3 on page 1 of this thread) with our Samba F1 tuned pipe.
Note: This is our standard lower with flexshaft and not like the one-off that specialk1 bought, see post #188 on page 8 in this thread
As also stated before the DPI is modified: I cut off the original funny sponson transoms, made them straight and gave the engine transom some extra setback, see attached pics.
My goal was to pass the 100 km/h (62 mph) and then change to my M&D 260 or QDHT, but maybe I will try to break the 111 km/h (69 mph) another Dutch guy claims to have set (with a QDHR) with this engine before.
Anyway after the midlife update I hope to have a waterproof radiobox, so one flip doesn't mean I can call it a day and can give it another try !
If you want more specific setup info shoot a mail to the adress below and if you want more info about our outboards have a look [link=http://www.boatracingfacts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7917]here[/link] first.

Ivan,
So far your outboard looks good and it also looks you have a great machine shop there !
Have you tested it already and if yes,how is the CMB 26 doing in relation to a Zenoah ?

Ivan,
Your machining work on that leg looks great. One area I think you should look at is the mount/swivel point. I think with such a narrow point to put bushes in the mounting block is going to be a problem.
