Ponds or lakes to run your boat?
Hello Boaters,
I have a question. Ilive in the Los Angeles area and Iwas wondering if there are any boat ponds/lakes where I can run my scale and FE boats without being kick off or hassled. I've been out of this hobby for a while but my sons interested has gotten me and him looking for places to run our RC boats. We are not part of any clubs and we have a modded Super Hawaii, Baltek, Lindberg PT109 and the Blue Devil, Kyosho Mini-Z and a 32 inch cruiser, the Nichimo Yamato (4 footer) and a few other boats.
I used to go to the Pasadena casting pond, Balboa Park, Legg Lake and also Cerritos Park. I'm not sure if these places still allow RC boats or not and I don't see a thread for such information.
Any suggestions on where to run in or around LAwould be helpful.
Thanks
Fish

RE: Ponds or lakes to run your boat?
Legg Lake is still the place in the LA/OC area to run most boats. We do not have a lot of scale activity, mostly racing. Gas, nitro, and a few FE guys. Still a great place to run. The LA County Parks Department does require that everyone be a NAMBA member for insurance reasons.
There is also a small group of guys who run smaller scalish electrics at the lake in Hansen Dam Park off of Foothill and the 210 Freeway.

Thanks guys for the reply....Is Hansen Dam Park for scale only and is there a specific location to run the boats? Maybe Legg Lake after I get the FE dailed before we try to run with the bigger boys at Legg Lake (or maybe pull out my old school Magic hull with the K&B outboard for Legg Lake.....lol).
Are there specific days that boater show up there?
A thread on where we can run our boats at various locations would be nice to see on this forum.
Thanks mucho on the info.

they run near the two piers shown on this mpa:

Thursday I think is their day. Mostly smaller scale boats. Some smaller FE boats. No IC allowed.
They have a thread in RCG.

I figured it out...Internal Combustion (aka nitro or gas).
