Default Another cat vs mono question?!

So I have thoroughly confused myself now.............lol. I was looking at the expresscraft thunderbolt, and was talked out of it. I was looking at some aeromarine stuff, and now think I may want (or need) a deep vee.

I run in varied conditions, from glass to chop. With the same engine, would a vee or cat be faster in smooth water? I know in the chop the vee should have the edge. This is purely recreational and I want to have a good reliable fast boat.

I have a pro mod 26 zenoah for it............

Thanks!

depends on what mono vrs what cat and the weight factor. with comparable weight, size and set up, you will not be looking at a real big speed difference.

What will a 50" or 56" vee run with a promod 26 zenoah? (i assume the 50 will be faster)

I know the cats are in the mid to high 50's.........................................

I think cats run best on small chop. Sorry you got talked out of the expresscraft. Did you like the ACor Insane boats? They have a heck of a reputation it seems to me.

With smooth water it generally goes from: Deep V, Cats, Hydros and Riggers being the fastest. All this goes out the window once you add chop to it.

I have Cats, Hydros, and Vees. I think that the cats are my favorites. I run my cats in everything, you just have to adjust your driving style. Plus I feel that nothing can corner like a Cat. Nothing like a 60+ MPH full rudder turn on a cat to make you smile. Jason

i think a well setup cat will out preform a deep v i run on big watter all the time the thing it comes down to is hull length if you have a 40 inch and a 50 inch hull same design wether cat or deep v the longer hull will be better in big watter

Depends on what your calling "big water" ?
Most Race cats won't wave jump, you would need a large scale cat to really handle waves. A good mono can be set up for waves or smooth water, and a few run really well in ether.
