Default M1A1 Abrams RC Tank with Abrams Sounds!

I have been hinting about this build but here it is! I don't have that many pictures I had my main computer go down, I'll post what I have, later ! But here is the breakdown of the tank!

This is the M1A1 1/16th scale Hobby engine top hull, combined with the M1 Abrams Lower Hull Complete Kit from Tankzone, which includes the bottom hull made out of Tamiya hobby grade plastic, aluminum road wheels, aluminum swing arms, torsion bar suspension, and adjustable rear idlers. The electronics of the tank are EL MOD complete with EL MODs Tamiya compatible IR Battle system. A true Abrams sounding engine, drive, machine gun, & cannon sound, The tank has the proportional drive that regulates the power to the motors so climbing a hill you will not see any lag, one continuous push! A few details, the front mud flaps are real rubber, the blast cap on the back of the turret pops off and that holds your power switch and volume knob. And there is a charge port, it is located right where the real tank refuels and yes I know it takes airplane fuel,, I said gas on the video! Actually the real tank will take any combustible fuel. Also this tank will have Kenny Kong M1A1 tracks and sprocket right now it has this plastic set that come with the lower hull, but they are not too bad! Paint job done by the customer using Tamiya spray can paint.

Well enjoy the video, I will get another video of it driving going over stuff suspension shots,, hopefully in the next week or so!

Great job Phil. Finally an RC tank that sounds like the real one. Nice to see the main gun fire without that sick HL full tank hiccup. What's the price tag on the completed Abrams?

Right direction on a tank many of us want. All the mods make this conversion as expensive as a Tamiya leopard 2a6 but a well running Abrams is LONG overdue!

If I just wanted the sounds and proportional speed what cost am I looking at to convert my HE M1A2 ABRAMS?[8D]

That's nice. Does the lower and top chassis fit perfectly, or do you need to do some machining? And one more thing...Can you give us a breakdown of the total expenses to build this baby?

Sounds great. Need some outdoor, all-terrain video. Think it could be adapted to airsoft?

Only note: that massive rear box really needs to come off. Looks awful.

Hey Blitz.

Whats the da da da noise when u traverse azimith? If thats part of the Elmod sounds get rid of it if you can. The azi servo in a real abrams sounds more like the motor thats in the model than the elmod sound.

Hey Thanks guys!

Snowtank, it would be the cost of what ever kind of gearbox and tracks you want to install. Then the cost of the EL MOD units and without the battle unit, you are looking at or around $ 290.00 that is with the 2 speakers that I have in this tank, one speaker is inside the turret! I will be doing a lower cost build and hopefully have it done is a few weeks to show you!

Here is the brakedown for this tank, and Ethan nailed the cost, and of course a little more because your paying some one else to build it!

H.E. Abrams tank with Upgraded Hull kit, Suspension, & gearbox
Cannon Flash LED & MG Flash LED's with wiring
EL MOD Mass inertia Thinktank drive module
Blaster III,10 watt stereo sound w/TB speaker & SD card
2 -2 “ TB Speakers to give the tank full range sound
CSI IR Battle unit
No screws Top and bottom Hull attach's with Magnets
Water proofing the lower hull
Charge port and custom switch locations
Labor for install, assy, setup all the tanks functions
Long lasting 4200 Hi-Mili Amp Battery
Airtronics 8 Channel Hobby radio

Oh and Philipat I thought the rearend box looked ugly too, but the customer wanted to keep it, the tank he worked on or supported did have the box in the back just like this one! He is a local guy and an member of ATAC so I will get a vidoe of this baby running how about running through some water?[X(]

The M1 turned out great Phil, but that lower hull is a very big chunk of change. Someone needs to come up with a more reasonable alternative. If we could make an inner tub and use the Tamy LEO suspention it might cost a little less. I'm gonna see what it would work out to. My LEO works great with the mods I did and the suspention isn't that bad thats why I just dont think the TANKZONE option is cost effective.

Panther G, You are correct, that is just a crazy price they want for this lower hull, and then you have to put it together, and I mean everything, the plastic parts and all! But I did want to show there is a high end option for someone who has to have this tank, and have it fully funtional! And my hope is that interest will rise that other parts builders will consider making something for us heck at even half the price of what tankzone has would be too much but its would be a little more reasonible to buy!

SNOWTANK, That battery I had in stock, and had got it from Tower Hobbies, but I now buy all my batteries here.....

Hey Phil, Do you think you could come up with an nice easy (read in ENGLISH) to get everything hooked up to an Rx18. Nice and clean , every function working. I think the HL KV-1 board would work with the deisel engine sounds. That could be a way to go. My drive train is bullet proof now with the Tamy Panther G gearboxes and Tamy LEO sprockets and tracks. Just need a clean simple wiring diagram and component list to convert it straight to the 18.
