DA-85 in a Byron corsair?????
Guys have any of you ever put a DA-85 in a Byron corsair and if so did it fit without sticking out of the cowl. Muffler would be a slimline I would think??? Any help on this would be great. Thanks in advance for your input. I have a Byron ready for a motor and have flown one as an electric conversion. the electric conversion flew great but I am now leaning towards a DA-85 and some much faster runs.

DA-85 would be a great choice, if you dont mind the motor sticking out the bottom. It is a heavy bird and old school too. A DA-85 is the perfect choice. If you build it, move everything in the fuse as far forward as you can. 5-1/2 pounds is not enough weight up front. You will need more.
Also, try to make your flying hinges alot stronger. It will handle the speed. My old Byron Corsair had a Quadra 42 without the "poor power" muffler/mount. No flaps and it came in at 24 pounds if memory serves me right.
I am using a DA-85 in a new Composite ARF Spitfire that will weigh in at 30 to 31 pounds RTF. Should fly it OK.
Here is a Byron Corsair in Denver, CO. Also a nice Slow, but Deadly. I could not find my old pics of that Corsair.
Good Luck and happy New Year.
