RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear All
Wow what can I say, thank you for your help.
I think it would be easier for the person in question
to come to this site rather than me saving and posting all this information on the other site.
What a wonderful aircraft the Corsair is/was, how can these killing machines look so beautiful?
Just about every fighter aircraft of World War two looks beautiful to me.
Hence that is why I started this thread.
Thank you all once again for your help.
Regards Phil G.

Dear Graham
I hope you and your family had a nice Christmas, I did leave you a message somewhere.
If I had the money mate, I would have one of those Corsairs, unfortunately I don't[]
Hopefully we will be able to have a couple of meets at Tibenham next year.
The vintage glider club (fullsize) want us to put something on at Tibenham in early August.
I will email you about that.
What money I have left after Christmas, I am going to use at Morrison's to stock my beer supplies up for
new years eve.
Hope to see you soon.
Regards Phil G.

Hi,
Pylon 2, what P51 is that ? It looks different from the usual kits, and it looks good in my opinion .
A few model details would be appreciated.
Thanks

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Wow! I never had a clue there is so much info out there What I need is directions to decals for a T.F. P-51D 1/5 scale mustang. I'm doing it in the CRIPES ALMIGHTY 3rd theme as illustrated on the winter 2010 issue of Flight Journal mag. What a beauty!. I'm also going to need documentation and I don't know where to get these very important items. My computer skills are marginal, but I'm getting better. Thanks a bunch, Leroy P.S., who is or what is Super Chief

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear Richard
Welcome to the thread.
If I can explain to everyone, Richard is a good friend of mine and he is very well known on the UK Warbird circuit.
He is like me a Warbird fanatic (probably even more so), he and his club hold a couple of Warbird events during the season
which are always well attended and everyone is made to feel welcome.
I gave him the colloquial nic name, Dickie as it sounds more like a WW2 fighter Pilot's name to me.
You very really get to see the underside of his aircraft, as he normally flies the entire flight at 20 feet or below.
The 20 feet bit is normally on the downwind leg and away from the runway.
The down the strip pass is normally five feet and below.
Hopefully now that he has found this thread, he will post some more pics of his excellent models.
There is one that will blow your mind, hopefully we will see it shortly.
The only clue I will give is that it is another American (sort of) aircraft.
Regards Phil G.

One of them is 2 years old - a fw 190D 1/5 - Built as a half - Kit - i bought the fuss, cowl a nd canopy in germany , the rest has been done by myself.
The plane was sold last year after two perfect seasons.
Second pic is my Ziroli stuka, maidened last year in the summer. At this time has cca 30 flights.. its a very nice plane, forgiving the flying mistakes... :-)

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Thank you Phil,
Thank you for the words - its alwas nice to read something like this.
About the rivets - to be honest - i think the same about the optics - but it was a horrible job to bring the whole plane to this detail :-)
On the other hand - i think that such a riveting helps to the optic more than much.
Regards
Tomas from prague
P.S. - sorry for my english.. iam not so strong in it.. but i try to learn it better :-)

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Thanks Phil,
You are right I do love my warbirds. The P51 in the above pics is a Ziroli version just recently repainted in TRUSTY RUSTY scheme. The graphics are from Flightline Graphics in the Uk. It is powered by a 3W60. I have 2 other P51's one a Topflite ARTF 85" version and a 3W composite version powered by a 3W150 in line twin. Pics enclosed. Plus my Y.T Tigercat Phil was thinking about I think!
Cheers Richard.

Dear Dickie
I was referring to the 3W P51 with the 150 in line twin.
You can't believe looking at the Tigercat picture how it did not crash. [X(]
A bit close for comfort that one.
Excellent pictures thanks for posting them here.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
I like your color scheme on both P51's. Flew my bird this winter (Comp Arf) in paint scheme. Left the tanks, cockpit tub off due to weight issues. 3W twin 80.

Dear Charlie
I would like to echo Lightnings comments, your Mustang really does look the part.
You could quite easily mistake it for a real one, on that underside shot.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Andy and Phil,
Thanks. I used Bob Violetts's http://www.bvmjets.com/Pages/metal_kote_plus.htm. I undercoated with black to get reflectivity, then air brushed each panel with the metal kote silver. Lots of work, I made many mistakes and had to sand sections off and try again. I am thinking about using flitemetal for my new bird. Here is the link to the maiden with color, the first flight was in primer. The landing was terrible, but no harm. Second flight greased it in.
