Electric Sledge
So I got a good deal on a Jeff Williams sledge pre built and decided to try something different. I'm making the plane electric. Thought I would share my setup on here. The plane is waiting for rudder and elevator servos because I really want to make sure I won't need tail weight since the servos are supposed to go in the wing. I had to enlarge the motor mounting rails to make room for the motor. I made a "key" to slide and glue the motor mount into along with some tri stock just to be safe on the back side. I'm still waiting on my batteries to arrive so I won't finish it up until then. I'm kicking around trying to stuff the battery in the wing if possible.
Setup
Hyperion Z4020-16
Hacker 70amp ESC
apc 15x8
Batteries
Turnigy 3600mah 4s
servos
HS225 might minis
The power setup is basically a shot in the dark, It is made for a slightly heavier plane so I dropped down to 4s, worst case I move up to 5s and should have plenty of power. I'll be sure to update the thread with how it goes.

RE: Electric Sledge
Go Ben, keep it coming. Also looking forward to flying it. I have one partially assembled in a box here at my house that was cut all from contest grade balsa. I would like to electrify that one day.

That gear was one jeff (above) used to sell. I don't think he does anymore. Maybe he could chime in if you can still get them.

RE: Electric Sledge
All done.
Total Weight : 4lbs 13oz RTF with battery, sounds like a lot but probably not bad compared to a fully fueled glow.
Ended up stuffing the battery in the wing I think the balance will work out ok like that. Going to fly once we get a decent day out.
