RE: 32' cat twin powered
Hi gen3v8
First of all be careful with props!
First make ruder`s position, then connect battery! The props blades are wery sharp and quick! Take care!
Colud you show me the Center of Gravity of your hull, including GPS in the hull? Show me a marker on the deck cover with a rule or measure it.
What the the current per motors?
Thank you!

The weight is 3.45kilos It has twin 3650 Flyermate outrunners on 100a flyermate esc and 8x2300 a123 per motor. 4mm flex shafts with modded x442 l&r props. I have only ran the boat 4 times and i`m a bit unsure of it but it does handle very well I think. Need to learn much more.

But 3.2 Volt per cell is too high figure. I guess 2.5-2.7 Volt per cell under load according PDF.

Ran my cat again today and got some good results.
PS the motors are hobbymate b3650 1700kva.
5cell 2300ma x3.2volt 73.7km/h. Just to clear the grease in shafts a bit.
8cell same batts 105km/h...65.2mp/h. Very stable on glassy water, sorry dunno the terms too new into boats

Yes Rull that is possible. Now calculate What rpm is needed to achieve the 64mp/h through the x442 props and don`t even take thrust losses/slipage into account. Then work out how many volts needed to turn them that fast. You will be surprised

RE: 32' cat twin powered
Ok
8*3.3V=26.4V
26.4V*1700=44 880 rev/min- Can`t belive that the outrunner can handle this revolutions but it is fact.
X442 - 42 mm *1.4 =58.8 mm/rev
58.8*44 880=2 638 944 mm/min = 2.64 km/ min = 158 km/h
incliding slippage20% and motor efficiency80% : 158*0.8*0.8= 101km/h. Cool!

RE: 32' cat twin powered
Hi gen3v8, your cat is amazing. I'm building one 44 inch cat from scratch and I'm looking for setup possibilities and want to ask you what ESCs are you using that can handle the 8S A123?! I was also thinking in A123's, 8S2P per motor, but 32pc A123 cells cost a hell of a lot of money!
Rull, your build is amazing. You caught me with your own design ESC. Hats off to you! I designed some brushed ESCs some years ago, but didn't bother with the BL since I'm not really familiar with programming uProcessors, and since Chinese offer us their cheapo ESC for modification Could you tell me more of your ESC? Parameters. Will you use D2Pak FETs instead of the TO220 in your first design?

RE: 32' cat twin powered
Hi Norbique!
Thank you!
I suppose 200A continuous current. I need some thermal tests before characterization..
For the motors I will cut ESC up to 1/2 or 2/3 of lenght and willl have 100 or 150A accordingly.
The 50 D2pak fets IRL7833S are bought for the ESC.

Flyermate esc`s and A123s from china out of US drills, new $200 for 30 cells

many 100A and + esc will handle 8s lipo without issues (more volts than 8sA123)

OK Rull I will do this w/e Been to busy. Sorry
I will mention at this point. When the 70g gps is fitted in the rear the boat does want to stand up on the props sometimes into the wind.

RE: 32' cat twin powered
I don't know if they are still out there but I bought 20 10,000 mah single cell lipos I just build whatever voltage I think my boat and motor will handle this way you can put cells where you want the weight and have major run time and a lot of amps if I am running a big motor I put cooling plates between the cells that way every thing is watercooled I have 1 motor that is rated at 120 amps a 25 volts I think if my math is right that is 4 plus hp and it is a 2250kv motor so it turns pretty fast hard to keep a drive in it though

RE: 32' cat twin powered
Thanks Serge, I could make similar now that you have shown me how.
does aluminum slide on each other? do you lubricate it? or are you not finished yet.
I have a lathe only, no mill but, I could make the square parts by hand. Very cool my friend!!![8D]
