So I recently picked up a new 3 port Go tech. I went with a budget engine for 2 reasons. My local track is small, and I had to stay under $800.00 to start out this season For a new buggy servos and misc items. All I can say about this motor is OMFG! From break in to running it on the track it performed perfectly and did everything I wanted it to in regards to needle inputs. and it is fast... Faster than a $115 motor should be. Once I got to tanks 9 and 10 I started to lean it out and.. It was literally uncontrollable. I really had to back-off down the straight.. I even tried rolling on the throttle gradually and the tires were breaking loose halfway down the back straight. Mind you, the track was dusty and dry.. But I didn't have that issue the day before running a HPI .28.

So if your in the market for a budget motor, I strongly suggest buying the 3 port Go tech. (non Race) and if anyone is curious I'm running O'Donnell 20%. I also found that a v-spec carb reducer fits in it.. so that should help with traction.

UPDATE: I finally set it to a race tune today with temps in-between 227 - 230. Traction off the bottom is still an issue even with the V-spec reducer. I took off the stock losi clutch and installed my Fioroni 3-shoe adjustable so i'll see if that helps. (Just wanted to see how the kit clutch performed)

So what are safe temps to run these things at? I usually don't go over 230 with my engines but this thing isn't happy when I back it off even an hour.

Good to hear it. I should have bought the GO instead of my Mamba. My mamba crank shaft is moving back and forth for about 1 to 2mm. I have less than 2 gallons on it.

I really like what I am hearing about Go engines.. Do they offer a pull start for there engines?

I think they do. Yea, all the hype is pretty much true.

If your add it to your cart it's still 115. I can't imagine these engines will stay this cheap for very long though. I think I might have to stock up on some

The prices havent gone up in over a year on them. You can get the 5 and 7 port turbo's for only $209 and the 3 port R spec for like $180

But I am still looking for a pull start, I have yet to see it on A main.

thats with the flywheel off right? once the flywheel is tightened on there is no play.

i'll probably go go next as rebuilds are cheep and they perform at more than club level. i've seen the 5 and 7 ports and they are screamers too. keep an eye out for the crankshaft, its 14mm like the sts motors and sts cuts them very thin, not sure about the go's. i had both of my sts's snap at about 5 gallons, so good luck.

Ive heard lots of good thins about these little mills, maybe just for the heck of it Ill try one out. It'll be a great experiment engine for porting and polishing.

ive had mine for a while i have to agree i went from os and  now i have seen the light my old os torq 5 port .21  couldn't hold a candle to my gotech 3 port  sport  400 plus engine to a 110 buck mill
gotech pwn os now i have a question is it possible to just by a 5 port piston sleeve and just insert it into a sport crankcase  with my old engine they all shared the same case all sleeves were the same thickness in the outside so it just dropped in , is this the same with go techs ? just curious cuz im planning on converting it to the 3 port r spec

i have heard nothing bad about em. i was stuck between a GO .21 turbo and a used Jammin JPX and i ended up with the JPX. that sucker is a handful!

but my next budget engine will be a go, that i will have ported, either by me or a company.

i would say that if anyone is in the market for a engine, this one is unbeatable.

im still loving my gotech 3plus 1 r  also love the sport  great engines with decent scoot  and now that sport version are coming with there race carbs im all a blaze just got me a new one and digging the new linear and punch of it

230 is a great temp for that motor! Im running the 7 port in my buggy and the thing hauls ass. What pipe are you running?
