Default Some KT questions

I was given an older model Tamiya KT. I would like to set it up with a newer gearbox (mine uses one motor with a clutch system) and steel tracks as well as other parts to be determined. Where is a good place to find these parts and are Tiger 1 parts interchangeable?

The gear boxes and DMD Units are interchangeable between the Tamiya full option Tiger IE and the King Tiger.

For left and right gear boxes visit here: http://www.aaftankmuseum.com/kingtigermain.htm

For Tracks: http://www.mitosal.com/kingtiger.html

For idler upgrades and other King Tiger parts: http://www.etoarmour.com/products.php?ViewCategory=9

Go here to find free instructions for the full option King Tiger: http://members.iinet.net.au/~wackywheelz/manuals/

Search ebay Tamiya DMD for parts deals.

Go here for the KT full option parts list: http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/rcp...s&kit_id=56018

Hi, Sources with fair prices would be tamiyatown (USA) and jr-rc (Japan) - both ebay sellers. Note though that the L/R gearbox, DMD and MFU units would easily cost $300. Add the speaker, recoil, gun elevation and turret rotation assemblies, gun flash unit, etc. and you're looking at close to $500 and almost the cost of a full-option kit.

i bought one of these kt's with the single motor, i fitted Impact TU's Impact heavy duty metal tracks (look awesome and weigh a lot) then fitted Heng long RX18 electronics. The gearboxes are noisy (all steel gears) so the tank running sound is a little weak. Runs ok, but struggles a little on grass surface. Have now fitted more powerful motors, which is a little better. Im sure if i fit the plastic tracks, it will run even better, but the metal tracks look good. Connected a PC speaker to the RX 18.

don't think it will be as good as the Tamiya DMD setup but its certainly cheaper.

gearbox was £110 tracks were £95 RX18 £17 (already had the heng long transmitter) upgrade motors were £8 each. You can get cheaper metal tracks now, and probably the gearboxes as well.

RCCOMMAND would have everything you need. I have fitted the 3:1 gears into my older tamyia KT (with metal tracks). Using the RX 1* board it works great
