tIANci .. my Ms Wind still has not arrived so I can not test. The first setting I have found on one other forum, it is not mine and the guy says it is working!

The pdf I have put link to was posted by another person claiming that exactly this setting he was using on a bipe and that he was told by Horizon Hobby to use this. Actually I was hoping you ill try it out for us .

Velco ... I doubt the 9X will be able to properly program for a bipe with 4 aileron channels. Mine is moth balled till I get a 5S motor that will turn a 16x10 or 16x12. The new Hyperions are for back mount. Oh well ...

Hi guys,

I also have this gorgeous looking plane in my hangar for next year F3A practice closer to my home. Can someof you JR9 ussers tell me how you connect 4 aileron servos? Do you use Y, mixes ore some other beter method to control ailerons?
Might be worth emailing Derk. I know his uses ailerons as brakes and am pretty sure he uses a DSX9 which is the same as your PCM9XII.

Look forward to seeing a video of what this thing does in your magic hands.

He is using a Futaba 14MZ, so it's not a problem for that radio.

Having watched the video again it looks like two different TX's appear in shot. I saw what looked like a 9XII sat on the ground at the beginning but what he uses later on certainly isn't.

Dose anyone know if the Axi 4130/16 will fit the MissWind....?

I'm not sure if the shaft is long enough....

The 4130 bolt pattern is slightly larger. You can try to dremmel out the holes on the nose ring. Shaft will be fine as its the same lenght as the DualSky 4260 motor that I used on my Ms Wind. I just got the Rimfire 5055-500 ... a lovely fit, the taper helps ensure that the can does not touch the fuse. I am sure it will be nice for a 5S set up with a 16x10.

Have a question for you Sebart fans.
I have a sebart shark and really love the way it flys and the quality of the kit. Thinking of getting a bipe and i really like the looks of the wind and pitts .I'm not really a 3D flyer but i'm trying but at my age 54 i dont know if i have it me , but you have to try.
I know theres other kits but i like the sebarts. my question is which one the wind or pitts? Both same price same gear.
I really like the looks of the wind best, but was wondering how good it behaves? I have been sport flying for a long time from 1/4 scale to parkflyers but this type of plane is new to me. So what do you guys think?

Mori ... the Ms Wind is nice for sport flying. She is easy to handle, comes in for landing with ease. I am happy just flying her around at the field, not that I really fly F3A at all.

Mine finally arrived yesterday and all I can say is WOW! I got the red/blue version. The build quality is even superior to Angel. The servos I have chosen are all InoLab and HGD-202HB fit perfectly in the wing while HGD-650HB will go in the rear, the same type I used on Angel and was very, very happy with.

I will put Hacker A50-12S with Hacker ESC 70A SB on 5S Rhino 4900 with 15x10 and 16x10 Turnigy light electric. I will not use the original wheels and wheel pants as I need a bit bigger, so wheel pants will be blue with 65mm wheels from HK. Also I will not use the supplied tail wheel, it will be replaced by Sullivan.

Unfortunately the weather for the next 30 days will be really bad, but OK, plenty of things to build and practice with new Phoenix simulator !

Velco ... she is a real fast build ... too bad the weather is not that good ... as for me I am stuck with work and will not be flying mine. I got the RimFire 5055-500KV ... will see how it performs!

Hi Everyone.

I just got one of these and I was wondering about the carbon rods that hold the wings together. Does anything need to be done to keep these from coming out during flight? I like the idea, but I wanted to make sure there isn't some trick to keeping everything together.

Thanks,
flyingtomg

flyingtomg,

Had no problems with mine. I did however, cut a little off the length. They stuck out so far that when working around the plane I would hang my shirt sleeve on them sometimes. I left about 1" sticking out. I painted that portion that stuck out with red fingernail polish so I would know that they were all the way in. Others on this post used heat shrink tubing for the same function which is actually better idea in my opinion than the nail polish, but I had already used that before I found out about the heat shrink. You should have no problems with them at all.

Larry is right, cut them shorter, if it breaks you may learn a new meaning to FIXED WING aircraft. I did slightly taper the CF rods on mine, sometimes they wanna snag so with the slight taper they slide into the slots without any fuss.

Hi guys,

Since I have decided to make all of my >50 planes run on 5S 4.900mAh I have a motor to purchase either for Ms Wind 50 or Angel 50. I already have one Hacker A50-12S and 2 Hacker 70A SB ESC. I expect Ms Wind to be 200g more heavy than Angel.

For 5S operation I have been considering Scorpion 4020-14 with 16x10, Scorpion 4025-10 with 15x10, Scorpion 4025-12 with 16x10 or shall I get one more A50-12S?

Inserting the data in Motocalc shows that Angel on 5S, A50-12S with 15x10 should feel the same as the recommended combo I was using previously: 6S, 3700 A50-16S, 16x10 (it was flying great, unfortunately not for long [] ) The down side here is even less braking effect on down-lines with 15x10.

Again inserting the data into Motocalc shows that Ms Wind on recommended setup (6S, A5016S, 16x12) should feel the same as 5S, A5012S, 16x10, but I am afraid that 16x10 might be too hot for this combo ???

Is Ms Wind flying better heavier or lighter? Angel with 100g less would certainly feel better, or I am wrong?

There are 100g that can be saved using Sc 4020 series motor.

Oh, I have put down so many questions and numbers I hope it is clear what has been bugging me , anyone with some direct experience or anything that would make sense please help! I do have my opinion but would really like to hear yours!

Hi,

I am using 5S TP 5300plv2 on my Ms Wind with a CC85hv and a Hyperion ZS4025-10. Works great and power feels just like my 10S 2x2's. Motor is rear mount so I added a firwall to existing structure. No issues.

Me gonna try to get mine up with the Rimfire 5055-500 up this weekend if possible. Wanna see how the Rimfire performs, would love the KV to be slightly lower but let's see how she fares on a 16x10. Only problem is the Rimfire has a 8mm shaft!

HI Guys,

wondering if Icould ask you guys some questions about your wind builds. Ibought mine last saturday and have done all the glueing and hinging, just about to install the aileron servos then the motor and im done.

However Iam having trouble with the motor mount screws. Ihave thr Hacker A50-16S but the supplied front mount screws are not long enough to use? They are only the depth of the wooden firewall, so not going to screw the motor tight. Did anyone else find this with the stock parts? Ihave read through this forum but havent seen anyone else mention it.

Thats my main problem, but also wondering what people used for pushrods?DId you guys just use what was supplied in the kits?I ended up using 4-40 threaded rod and dubro ball links on the entire tail, but thinking that is a little overkill for the ailerons.

Cheers,
Jeremy

PS The setup im running - is straight out of my angel

Hacker A50-16S
Dualsky 80AESC
APC17X10E
Outrage 6S4200mah

which would hover the angel on 1/3 throttle and climb away under full

using JR9401's on both the elevator and rudder, and Inolab 212MG's on the ailerons

Jeremy,

I too ran into the same problem with the motor mount screws. I had some on hand that were too long and I simply measured and cut them off. You are correct, the screws that come with the Hacker motor are too short. I ran into this same problem with my Wind 110 and used the same resolve. I also used all thread for the push rods in the rear, same as you did, and covered them in heat shrink (not necessary, just for looks). I used the factory rods for the aileron push rods.

I also ran into the problem with the mount screws. I have a Scorpion motor in mine, but same issue. I had some longer ones on hand and I used those.

As for the push rods, I used what was in the kit. Worked fine.

The plane flies really well by the way. Mine had its maiden flight this past weekend. Very little trim changes were needed.

Thanks for your answers guys.

Ifound some 10mm bolts and Ifelt these were a little too short for my liking, then tried some 12mm bolts and these were a little too long. Acouple of washers had them sitting just right.

Mounted all the pushrods for the ailerons yesterday, so just need to mount the esc and motor, and Ihave to move my receiver - Ihave a specktrum with the top mount plugs and its just a little tight between the top of the wing and where the rx is mounted. Aiming to have it flying by this weekend.

Cheers,
Jeremy
