Horizon Hobbies???? They sell Saito parts.
That would be www.horizonhobbies.com
The nipple has a taperred thread, might look around at Tower Hobbies, one from OS or Magnum should work.
Cheers,
Chip

RE: Saito FA-100 muffler nipple replacement ?
Ihave looked at Horizon. Thing is the manual for the engine does not list a part number for the nipple. Ican find the nipple with a muffler, but not the nipple by itself. I also cannot find the thread data for the nipple. The threads measure 3.97 mm OD, but what pitch ? Ihave looked at Tower also. What they list the thread size for seems to all be 3mm which is too small for my Saito muffler. Iwould prefer to keep the muffler stock and not drill and tap it for a larger thread.
Itried two nipples from two different OS motors I had and both of them were 3mm diameter.
The nipple that was in the muffler does not have tapered thread. It is 3.97mm the full length of the threads. That is only four threads however.

bayward, you did not look hard enough at Horizon Hobbies parts list. W8ye, did it for you. The codes O,P, M, KK etc. refer to different sized Saito engines. As you can imagine a lot of parts are common to the family of engines.

Ifound all of those W8ye listed, prior tohim listing them. Only one of those helistedis fora muffler and no mention of what mufflerit is used for. Maybe allof them, but with no partnumber Icannottell for sure. Ihadintended on calling Horizon Monday morning and asking ifthat was a properfitting for my muffler. If Iknew it was a good partfor my purpose I would have ordered it and it would have shipped Monday AM and Iwould have it Wednesday. Now, if it is a good part, Iwill not get it until Friday or Saturday because Iwill not be able to order it until Monday evening.
All of the other nipples listedare fordifferent purposes. I have several Saito carb and breather nipples on hand and they are a smaller diameter than the muffler nipple.

Calling Horizon is a piece of work within itself
They perfer you leave your number and they will call you back within a couple days.
If you hang on the phone, be prepared to possibly wait up to 2 or 3 hours.
The answer you get depends on who you talk to and how you act yourself.

I have somewhere around 30 Saito engines and was doing a little comparing of breather, fuel inlet, and muffler pressure nipples.
This one is listed as the muffler nipple for the Saito 50. It is the same as the one on the 100.

You can look at the part number and tell what it was originally designed for but these are used on other engines and places also.

Thanks for the nipple information. Appreciated. My guess is the name Cast/Alu means it will fit the cast aluminum mufflers. Then again, maybe Saito has always used cast aluminum mufflers ? I am almost certain that is the nipple I need. Certain enough that I just placed an order for three of them. A little under $10 with shipping. If it is my part I will have a couple of spares for the next mishap. If it is the wrong part I will have three more nipples to put in the tray with the spare carb and breather nipples.
30 Saito engines ? Are they all installed on something ?
I have a Saito 180 on a Twist 150 that I just love. I will probably go into mourning when that plane finally expires as it is out of production. I have at least twenty gallons through that 180 and have not touched anything on it since new other than needle adjustments occasionally. I had a second 180 new in the box that I let a fellow club member talk me into selling to him. I still wish I had kept that engine and put it on another plane.

The nipples arrived today. They were the correct ones as you stated W8ye.
The nipple package lists all the engines the nipple works on. Strange Horizon does not do the same on their web site.
