T33 BVM Overhaul
Thought of posting a couple of photos of a "project" I am working in now.
This is a BVM "old" type airframe- ducted fan. It has about 14 years. As you can see in some photos , the plane has been recoated by previous owners 4 times.... It was originally painted with the Thunderbirds paint scheme.
I guess the plane should have at least 1 pound of overweigh on paint.

Old Landing Gear. To be removed and will be installing the new Gear.
I will be removing the old bases on the main gears and will retrofit new wood bases in order to be able to install the Super Bandit Gear.

One of the other things you should consider doing is filling in the "cusp" area at the root of the wing while you are redoing. The cusp is scale but made the original BVM T-33 very hard to land consistently. I think there was an AD on the BVM website on how to accomplish this. Still one of the best flying planes, it was just a little tricky to land without hopping.

J. David: Beautiful !!!
Here a photo of the plane now starting to get exposed as I am removing the old coats of paints with: "Klean strip aircraft remover for flexible plastic".
This work is kind of "difficult". I mean... Need to pass a couple of times the scraper and repass the spray , and the scraper again due to several coats of paint...
Also a photo of the Engine and front cover finished ready for primer.. Baby steps, but here we go...
Hopefully will end this by next weeks end and from there I should have received from BVM the formers for the landing gear retrofits. Also will start working on the filling and final smothenning of the surfaces...

There IS a lot of work that needs to be done when removing paint.....
Here I can finally see that my plane was "born" a Thunderbird.....

Dang - that's a lot of rework ! Kudos for your dedication.
I have one of these old BVM T33 kits sitting in the loft, that I haven't managed to garner the enthusiasm to build yet - and that's just for me doing the easy part (the original build on a completely clean kit). Your work in having to laboriously undo other people's work first, kinda makes me feel guilty now [X(]

I have been flying a P80 for about 2 years now. You can see it in my gallery. They fly great and have a good profile. I have set mine up with crow and found that 95% of the time I get a good landing. It is the 5% that gets me. Recommend putting skids under tanks. I use cable ties.

I was planning on building/overhauling another T-33 I have, but I have decided to sell it.
