Default Best product for removing oil for wood

I am rebuilding a Carl Goldberg Ulitmate that has a badly oil soaked front end. I've heard that K2R works good to soak the oil out, but I can't find a store that stocks it . Does anyone know a store that sells K2R in Canada? Could anyone have another product that works the same or better?
Thanks
Jay

Jay - you might want to check out this posting to answer your question on removing oil from wood:

Seems pretty radical, but I hope this helps,

Jay, you might want to check out this posting on removing oil from wood. I haven't tried it myself, but it's worth a shot. Sounds pretty radical, and you may want to try it on some scrap wood first.

I know for a fact that the brake cleaner in the spray can will dry up oil soaked wood, I have seen it work. Club member was given an oil soaked Quacker that needed restored and recovered. He sprayed it with brake clean and let it evaporate a few times, plane now looks like brand new.

[X(] I'll have to try the Brake cleaner! Sounds so easy! Only method I've tried is using a heat gun on oil soaked area, when it bubbles-up wipe it off...and repeat, takes awhile but eventually gets it done.

K2R is the best stuff on the market for removing oil from wood. I fixed a plane for a guy once were the wood started out green from cool power, and when I was done it was back to Balsa tan. CA worked awesome on it then.

Every one keeps saying that you can get oil out of Balsa[:@] I have tried every thing. Well Kitty Litter does not work unless you are supposed to use it after the Kitty gets done.
Let the plane set in the sun after you have so called de oiled it and the oil is still THERE. All you clean is the surface and it leaches right back out. OH well we tried

Ace Hardware carries K2R. According to the map, it looks like you are about 25 miles from the border and there are several stores just over the border in the US.

Hi. K2R seems to be available on e-Bay. At least, a London, UK, supplier lists it. Could someone tell me if it is the correct product?

You can order K2R through West Marine boat shops. You can have them ship straight to store and pick up to save on the shipping, or order online.
