Default RX Futaba R168DF + DL50

Hi guys,

let me ask You, it will be safe to put Rx Futaba R168DF (72MHz) to 28% scale plane wit gas engine DL 50 ? There is a more than 12" distance between ignition and Rx ...

I don't know that reciver, usually I'been using Futaba R127DF with Glow planes with no problems.

What will be safe range to fly with ? I do not want to fly in 2,4GHz now ...
Can You help me with it ?

Thank You in advance.
Andy

If you have flown with the 127DF, then the 168DF is just a newer expanded (8 rather than 7 channels) version. It sounds like you have taken the proper precaution of 12" separation. The receiver is full range, so that shouldn't be an issue either.
Go for it,
Curtis

Thanks, yes, I'll try to fly with it ... for now I do not want to invest for 2,4GHz ... i'm very happy with my Futaba 6XAS Tx ...

but that Rx looks like very cheap to me, that I was so worry about ... You think, that will be OK to fly in appr. range of 1000ft ?

You should be ok with the setup you mentioned. A few other things to take into account when you are dealing with setups like this. You need to make sure your 12" seperation is from the ignition module as well as the engine. You can get interference from that as well. Make sure you don't have a throttle servo forward of the firewall or near the ignition module. This also applies to servo wires. And last, use only plastic pushrods to the throttle arm on the carb. A metal rod and transfer RF noise back to the servo and then to the receiver.

Hope this helps

all i have to say is range check the heck out of the plane WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. if it checks out fine from a few different angles then your good to go
you dont need 2.4 for gassers if you set it up correctly

Ok, so now I made some photos .... with 2 options:

1. Rx is on the desk, "only" 10" from Ign. switch, 14" from ignition

2. Rx is 13" from ign. switch, and 17" from ignition.

Question - which option should I use ? will be safe to have Rx only 10" from ignition switch ?

the only way to find out is to range check it, i would think it would be a little close, but it may work fine. personally if you could i would move the reciever as far back as possible where i could still reach it incase i needed to change something, on a 25% that could be halfway down the tail
