RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
Hi Mike,
hope you can help me ... I've ordered the Aerofly and know Iwill need to upgrade my graphics card.
Iwas hoping to get the ASUSENGT240 1GB but on reading your posts I'm beginning to think Ineed more.
What's your opinion onthis graphics card for Aerofly 5
Iam new to the Aerofly so Iguess Iwon't be using it's more advanced futures ...
Can Iget by with this setup +ENGT240or will an upgrade to a slighly better graphics card be good enough?
My current PCconfig is as follows:
Dell XPS 410
Ship Date: 12/8/2006
Intel Core2 CPU Duo 6300 @ 1.86GHz
L2 Cache Size 2048
4GB Memory DDR2-667
2 DVD Drives
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE 128Mb
Power supply Wattage 375 W
PS>(i believe the 375wis the constant output)
thanks
Michael

RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
muckki, please take a look at the AF5 requirements here http://www.aerofly.com/requirements_en.html The minimum Nvidia card is the 7600GT with 256MB memory. You have to check the nvidia website on the system requirements for the 7600GT and if your current system can handle it.

RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
Hi Mike,
Ilooked at the page ...i should have stated that my monitor is 1920 x 1200 and have the impresion from that page that i might have problems.
i was trying to find out if the ENGT240 is a worthwhile upgrade or if i should go a little better.
If possible Idon't want to upgrade the power supply.
thanks again
Michael

muccki, the ASUS card is based on the Nvidia GT240 processor. Looking at the power requirements http://www.nvidia.com/object/product...gt_240_us.html seems like the minimum is 300W

RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
just upgrading my PC ready for this, just installed a XFX ATI 4890 1gb card and a new 700w PSU as old one didn't have the right PCI-e power connectors, memory and CPU are already in spec. now my AFPD runs between 350 and 500+ fps
I don't know weather to order online or wait for it to arrive in UK stores,
any idea when the upgrade will be available in UK stores and what the GBP price will be?
EUR to £ isn't to good just now so not too keen to order from Germany
Si

RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
What are the requirements for mac for Aerofly5?
I have a 1.5yr old Mac book pro
2.4GHZ core 2 duo, 4gigs of memory
GeForce 8600M GT 256MB
OSX 10.6.2
Will afp5 run well?
I was thinking of buying AFPD and then getting the upgrade for 5 in case it doesn't run as well as I like and I still have AFPD then.

Is there a special 'english'' version you can order on the Ikarus site?

Yep bought mine from there. I bought the upgrade as I already had AFPD & the USB dongle. Come with english manual but its just spat out in A4, better off reading the color pdf file
Anyone know how I can get the Flight Modes to work on AF5 with a JR radio? Worked on AFPD but cant see how its done on AF5.

RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
Hi Royster, flight modes in JR (or flight conditions in Futaba) is entirely set in your radio and should have no problems working with AF5. Just make sure that you perform calibration in AF5 for the flight mode that has the highest surface throws

RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
I just received my upgrade from Germany (to the east coast of US). It was stuck in customs for a month! So far I think its great! My pc was running at 900-1000 fps (recently built i5 with gtx260 card) and runs now at 280-500 fps depending on bells and whistles. I even was able to go online and fly with a few others the fist hour. I did have to install the latest patch for it to even work but that seems to be an Aerofly thing. I have a slight annoyance now in that the controller needs to be calibrated every time the software is used. That and I don't seem to be able to add a second controller. I think the later problem may be fixed by trying a few things but the recalibration is a pain! Anyone else have this problem?

RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
Hi Mike thanks for answering. I am using a Real flight interlink controller which works fine in AFPD. After the tips screen I get a message that the controller is not calibrated and the next line says that a new controller was found and needs the 5 step calibration.
The second one i was trying to set up is an older RF game port controller with a USB adapter. This one also works in AFPD and works fine in AF5 once calibrated.
Another problem I just noticed is that my model randomly restarts. I will be doing a manuver or not and hear the crash bang an Im back at startup. (flying thePitts at Bennet feild) thanks for any help Alex

RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
Just an update It seems its only the Pitts that resets itself so not a big deal.
I will also try my Hitec or Evo transmitters on the Icarus interface cable and see if I have the same problem(s)

RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
OK to those interested ( I can't believe there is not more interest in this software!) but especially for help from Mike I just set up my Royal EVO 9 (now PRO) on the Icarus/AeroflyPro USB cable/dongle and it saved the calibration as well as a keyboard control for smoke in the Quick setup for the USB interface, after closing and re opening AF5
It still won't save settings for other (Real flight) controllers that even though are USB connected ,are only listed as joysticks. Any ideas
