Default 14MZ PMIX

I have a plane set up in my 14MZ that has a model type with a four aileron wing and two elevator tail. In the function menu, aileron 1 is assigned to a stick, with ail 2-4 set to null. Also in the function menu, elevator 1 is assigned to a stick with ele 2 set to null.

When I set a rudder to aileron PMIX, I use only one mix going from the rudder to ail 1. The other three aileron servos follow the mix assigned to the ail 1.

However, when I set a rudder to elevator PMIX, only elevator one responds to the mix. I have to make a second PMIX for elevator 2.

Why can I use one mix for the four ailerons, but I need two mixes for the elevator?

When you selected your tail type as Ailevator, your transmitter is recognizing this as a Wing type in the programming. So once you created your first Pmix of Rudder to Aileron, it has priority over the other mix that you did, and basically ignores the Rudder to Elevator mix.

An easy remedy is to go into the original Rudder to Elevator mix and "link" the elevator. Just simply touch the box next to the Slave selection screen and make it positive ( + ), this will bring to your mix any other Elevator ( Elevator2) .

Then you can do away with the Rudder to Elevator2 mix that you have.

Hi Krysta,

I did not select "ailevator" on the Model Type selection screen. The tail type I selected has picture showing a fin/rudder and two elevator halves. (I thought that since the picture shows two elevator halfs it meant two elevator servos.)

Should I still put the "+" sign next to the slave?

Is my set up causing the snap roll function to not work properly? When I hit the snap roll switch, all the ailerons move as expected, but only one elevator half moves.

Both diagrams for both Normal tail and Ailevator will look the same in the Tail type menu, but the Normal tail type will not give you Elevator2 in your function screen. Could you double check for me in the tail type selection?

Hi Krysta,

I checked the Tail Type and it is set to "Normal". I also checked on the function screen and there was an ELE2 listed, with the stick and trim set to "Null".

I have four PMIXs:
- ELE to ELE2 (there is a "+" in the box before ELE)
- Rud to AIL (there is a "+" in the box after AIL)
- Rud to ELE (the boxes before and after are empty)
- Rud to ELE2 (the boxes before and after are empty)

EDIT: After writing the above, I did what you instructed and by putting a "+" after ELE in the Rud to ELE PMIX, I did not need the Rud to ELE2 mix.

I have one more question: What does the "+" in the box before ELE do? (In the ELE to ELE2 PMIX, there is a "+" in the box before ELE)

Thank you for your help.

You're very welcome, glad this is working for you now.

The + and - are symbols for Link In and Link Out. I have taken the information below from our 9Z FAQ that explains the link functions on that transmitter. While not identical between the two radios, this will give you an idea of the use of these.

A simple explanation of the "Link out" function would be if mix 1 is set up, lets say, to mix rudder to elevator (to get rid of pitching when knife edge), and link is turned on, then the radio will say "Ok, mix from rudder to elevator AND if there are other mixes from elevator to other channels, also obey those"

This means that if any other mix in the radio commands the master channel in this mix as a slave, then it should also follow through with this mix.
