Finished my Hellfire today. Upgrades were, HR Chassis Braces (3), Integy's (awesome) MSR7 shocks which are almost double the size of the stock and hot bodies shocks, integy rear\front shock towers, completely replaced 80% of the screws (all visable mostly) with stainless steel, roll cage installed.

Since this thread seems active I think we should all keep the Hellfire alive and make it a collectable like old corvettes. We should post on all other cars threads and get interest. Maybe someone can produce the necessary mods (chassis, ackerman plate, etc.) to make this a great truck. These things still fetch a decent $$ on ebay while old race trucks get sold for under $100 . Whos in??

Ok a flywheel question for you!

As I am going to be upgrading my engine, I figured I would replace the flywheel and clutch shoes too.

HPI have 2 Flywheels for the HF: The 86562 (black 7x34x10mm) which I think is the stock version, and also the 87543 (silver 7x37x10mm). Which is better and why? does the additional 3mm make a big difference?

Also any recommendations for some good clutch shoes before I just buy some rubbish of ebay?

The larger flywheel will make it easier if you use a starter box. And I could be mistaken but I believe the larger flywheel gives you better torque with slightly less acceleration where the smaller flywheel would be just the opposite. Would it be a noticeable difference? Probably not.

Ive got both. I couldnt start the engine on a bump box with the smaller flywheel. My larger flywheel is worn smooth but i can start it easy.

ok, I've ordered my LRP ZR.30, the 37mm Fly wheel, some aluminium clutch shoes, some AKA City Block Tyres (med), AKA black and chrome wheels, the HPI billet alu engine plate and some integy alu engine mounting blocks.

I still need (and want your recommendations on):

Clutch Springs - are there good and bad springs, if so what should I be looking for?

With that engine you should probably go with 1.0mm springs. Mugen springs are always a good choice or HPI

I was going to use the springs out of the current clutch which are HPI, but I thought maybe I should buy new ones. I'll take a look at the Mugens.

The stock ones would be fine but with the extra torque and RPM's of the LRP heavier springs will engage later and still till you great off the line power

Apparently i shouldn't be spending my money on myself so I can't have it until my birthday at the end of April. Women just don't understand..................

I should have got it delivered to work instead of home.

Ah well, gives me time to start replacing all the screws for hardened steel ones, besides the weather in the UK should start getting better by May so at least I can break it in in decent weather

I'll see what I can do. It will be May at the earliest though

my biggest worry now is if the extra power from the LRP will strip my diffs!

do you think the standard pipe from my H/F will be ok with the LRP?

Im using a JP4 on my LRP.28. The stock pipe may not give you the full power of the engine but it should still rip.
As long as your diffs arent sloppy they should be fine. Maybe open them up and see if they need to be shimmed while you are waiting for the engine

diffs will hold but you will wear all the pins in CVD's for sure-

My os28 is always breaking pins. I sometimes use whatever i find in my garage such as small nails etc

LOVE MY HELLFIRE! Can't believe HPI discontinued it! Now they have nothing to offer in the "Truggy class". Iguess it's time to shop. Anybody know anything about Hot Bodies? Losi 8ight-t 2.0 rtr or XXL?
