RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Got a problem with my new GPM front steering knuckles. Installed them last night on my mt2 but the bearings on the front knuckles do not fit tightly and the bearings just slop around and come out of the knuckle. Has anybody had this problem before and what can i do to solve the problem??? the back knuckles the bearings fit in nice and tight. Kinda ticks me off.

I know exactly what you mean! Like when you get that part in the mail that you've been waiting for and it rains the day its delivered!

last time I got my jammin .5 it rained for a week. I finished building it at like 10 or 11pm and the next day it started raining on and off (like it is now)
not alot of rain but just enough to make puddles that would splash enough water to short out the electronics. kinda like now
and Truggy24 I kinda noticed something similar on my one set of knuckles(out of 3)
2 ideas I can think of one is use loc-tight on it might hold it seeing the outside of the bearing don't spin. Other is shove a piece of paper in it to wedge it up seeing if its like mine if a few micrometers difference only.

A layer of aluminum tape on the outside of the bearing will take up the space. Paper will disintegrate quickly and the lock tight I dont think would keep the bearing centered

I was wondering if this gear will fit on a MT2, Or if there is a better one than stock. Thanks

Personally I prefer the plastic spur gear. It provides a cheap weak point in the drive train should something bind up. Its cheaper to replace a $3 spur gear then have the steel spur eat a CB or snap a drive shaft. Also the plastic gear weighs a little less so it helps with acceleration.
RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
agree
I was kind of shocked when I ordered the entire spur/slipper setup (had the old MT1 spur) that the spur gear had Savage/MT2 written on it

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
well was at the point of scrapping my Electric MT1 again yesterday, along with my frankensteined buggy seeing both were disapointing
MT1 was disappointing due to the trany getting toasted easily. for some reason the motor mount/tranny holder's cover never closed right (what I get for using a tweaked chassis) and a pebble got into it the other day when my nephew broadsided me with his pede, and destroyed the spur gear and damaged my pinion. Also never found a shaft small enough to fit for the rear drive and the way I doctored it was breaking again.
my frankensteined buggy I was disappointed with the axels, seeing it would keep blowing them off and losing them after 5 mins of use (longest it held its axel)
I was like damn wish I could fix the weakness of either of them. then thought about just putting all the E-MT1 parts on the buggy seeing essentially they were identical drive chain wise. only difference in the buggy was it' was about 10mm's longer.
well anyways I swapped the parts over to the buggies chassis and to be honest it now works right
And now with the extra bit of length 1/8th scale savage bodies line up perfect to the wheel wells. So if I slap on buggy rims and some wheels I can probably make it looks like a 1/8th scale onroad car
I also now have the rest of the parts for the Nitro RS4 I was thinking of converting my one spare MT1 chassis to (well - the front bumper...)
I would take pics but I have to go make body mount posts for my new stampede (which I bought to run with my nephew seeing how bad he drives) and make a motor mount for my Budget Savage Flux (started out as a savage .21)
On the nitro note with the MT2 still too wet out to test (and cold) supposedly next week it should be good weather so the diff seal testing will have to wait till then

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Does anyone know if theres any body or modification I can do to my MT2 to make it look more to scale?
I'm really digging the Stadium Truck look, but would like to avoid the extra cost.
Thanks.

I have had my MT2 about 2 weeks now and im having a blast with this truck. No major problems and only thing i have changed is the steering knuckles. It's fast i know that love blowing by my buddys haha. Glad i made the decision to get the MT2. Im gonna get it out later to bash it around a little.

Yeah tell me about it! The Box says 45mph but I'm guessing its more like close to 50. I want to get a Hero Cam to make some movies.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
I know I've asked this question before i think but how do I raise and lower the suspension/ride height on my MT2?
Does HPI expect me to do all that with just preload adjusters? They way its built it doesn't seem like it can be changed except for use of preload springs and shock oil. I mean I see holes in the back like my Lightning Truggy has but the MT2 Design is different so you can't just bolt them there and call it a day?
SYCOVenom I'm calling on You! LOL

Is there a body I can buy to make my MT2 look more like a Stadium Truck (Example: Blitz, SC10 etc)

Issue will be the wheel wells so I doubt it
And about the ride height weird I put mine in and it went up enough
Could try longer shocks, slightly longer springs, longer shock shafts, or a combo of the shafts & springs in the ones you have(I'd just get better shocks at that point though).

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
You cant put longer shafts in the standard shock bodies, you'll end up putting the shaft through the top when it fully compresses.
Longer shocks would help a little but the truck isnt designed to ride that high. Its supposed to sit low. Thats why the stadium trucks are so stable. You could try slightly larger tires but thats going to effect acceleration.

longer shafts can work if you put a spacer(fuel tube) on the outside to prevent to from fully compressing where it would go through the top
not recommended at all but it is possible. Why I said get longer shocks at that point
BTW Masher 2ks work wonders on ride height

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
My Old Rustler was a ST and it had multiple mounting positions and was able to sit high and my HB LSP is also! HPI imo just slacked in that department. I am happy with the truck and all just wish they gave us the option to decide how high or low we wanted it. As a matter of fact my new replacement lower arm is on its way to my house now. Can't wait it's been 2-3 weeks since I drove my truck.
RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Well finally got my rims dyed black yesterday. Those are 3 inch ST rims (forgot the brand) with 14mm hex hubs, and HB Lightning GT10 Tires(got 3 full sets for $6 for 4) on them.
They are the same size and weight as the mashers so I'm not expecting any performance changes at all.
I ran it for a grand total of 130 feet today... Had issues with the slipper gear slipping too much. I have it completely tightened and its not gripping very well(just installed the slipper 1st run on it), also seems the nut that holds my one shock on fell off causing the bolt to pop out and the truck bottomed out... Hopefully I can find a nut that fits and have it ready for tuesday which is the next time I have a chance to run(just hope it don't rain and temps are decent)
other note the diffs are not leaking yet since I used the sealer on them.
And IROC its weird the MT1 had multiple positions, only reason I can think of as to why HPI removed them is the shocks were causing arms to crack prematurely where they were mounted.
You can still see the 2 holes in the middle of the arms on the current MT2's there used to be a block that screwed in there that allowed 3 positions.

Sick Truck Syco! Where did you get that spoiler and how can I mount it? PLEASEGIVEMETHESCOOP, I'm drooling over it! That would perfectly match my MT2 to my Lightning Pro Truggy!
