RE: Tamiya TT-01 Rally
Well, i decided not to sell the TT-01 rally car, so i stripped it down, i took every screw and part out.
i then cleaned all the parts off in soapy water.
Then i am such a geek, i assembled the whole thing, with no instruction manual lol

This one comes with Ralley wheels. Same kit I have just put drift tires on mine and put the 1/10scale rally wheels on my RC18T.

i have no pics,
but it puts a cover on the top and bottom of the chassis, this keeps all the crud out, expanding the life of your electronics

i used a tl01, but if u get a tt, all you realy need is some tyres and shocks, i got some $25 shocks and 2x $10 tyres so once you have the chassis it easy pretty easy

RE: Tamiya TT-01 Rally
i looked at my TT-01 for the first time since rallying the other day, and the propshaft would hardly move.
so, i took every single screw out, washed them and put them back together without the instructions lol (yes, i know i am a geek)

RE: Tamiya TT-01 Rally
Another nifty tip for the TT01 rallye conversion...the TGS A parts (51011) are direct replacements for the TT01 but are FRP. This allows you to swap the regular plastic gearbox covers (which are also your body and damper mounts), the upper suspension mounts and F&R uprights for stronger FRP. For my TT01R conversion all I needed to do was notch the bumper stay, swapped to the FRP pieces, and used the stock (and unmodified) dampers mounted on the innermost lower arm mount and used a (15mm?) grub to stud the body mount and 5mm ball nut on the end. Now the dampers have a more vertical action and as such “act†like they are longer. It also looks like the 5x8mm balls would work in place of the stud, but I don’t have any at the moment. Sure, aluminum bling is available and stronger than the FRP for the suspension mounts and the uprights, but can you get 4 uprights and 2 suspension mounts for $6.50?

RE: Tamiya TT-01 Rally
Hey i know its not a tt-01, but im trying to convert my tb-02 to a rally car too. i found that traxxas front a arms for the stampede fit with some dremeling. would it be good to dremel the ends of the chassis where the diffs attach to make it skinnier formore shock downtravel? all i need is steering links, longer dogbones, rear camber links and rally tires. im gonna get tamiya rally blocks with gold rims and a subbie impreza body and paint it metallic blue.
But if anyone have a better idea of how to get more GC/travel let me know. So far i have only put the pede arms on the front, so i might just try carving out some of the chassis in the back to let the a-arms droop down more. that way all i would need is tires. and i was thinkng of using an HPI impreza body because tower only has the pre-painted tamiya and its 50 bucks. a bit much IMO. i noticed that the HPI body is a bit wider (200mm vs 181) and a tiny bit shorter. would this still fit?
And as for the dirt problem, i was planning on using some scrap lexan and shoo-gooing it onto the chassis to make a dirt shield. and ill be running brushed, so waterproofing shouldnt be a big deal. anyone know if the ftaba s3010 servo is waterproof? if not i'll use some silicone to seal it and seal my RX and esc.
I'l try and get some pics up soon, but it looks pretty goofy with the front about an inch wider.

RE: Tamiya TT-01 Rally
well i didnt really like the stampede a arms because it made it really wide and i think it would be hard to find driveshafts the right length. I've found that my dremeling the chassis, stock a-arms and hub carriers that i get alot more suspension travel. also im using the longer shock ends on the bottom so the shock length doesn't limit ground clearance. So far i have only done the front left, but tomorrow i will probably finish and then I'll try it out. Ill have to use the stock tires that came with it (porche carrera gt). Im hoping that the tamiya rally block tires will have a bigger diameter. I may need to gear back down to stock, but my motor has alot of winds, so i may not have to.

RE: Tamiya TT-01 Rally
i ran it and it works pretty good. I only dremeled the front of the chassis for now, but it works ok. I think I will dremel the back a little just for a little more ground clearance, and then get bigger tires. Any suggestions for tires? I was thinking these [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=L5UFB102&P=7]JConcepts Goose Bumps 4WD Front Tires[/link] but im open to suggestions. Is it possible to waterproof a mamba max esc? if not i'll just stick with brushed, but if i can, then I'll put the brushless in and see what it can do with 7 cells

RE: The official unofficial rally car thread
Anyone tryna resurrect this thread?
I'll be getting a DF03RA soon and would like a Rally resource thread about kits, tracks, upgrades, mods, and the like. I'll spear-head a newly organized topic if anyone would jump on board with me.

RE: The official unofficial rally car thread
I was actually looking into getting a rally car about 6 months ago as I used to run them way back when (Kyosho RS2000/Yokomo MR4 Rally). After much research to see what rally RC cars were available (there aren't many), I endend up taking a totally different route and purchased a HPI Firestorm Flux. I have to say it's one of the most fun RC vehicles I have ever ran. Room for thought anyway!

RE: The official unofficial rally car thread
What gear ratio / pinion/spur combo would you use for TT-01 modified for rally/offroad??? generally? stock 19/61 or other?
