Value of a NIB Cox TD 051 (non-RC)
Hello,
I've watched this 1/2A forum for some time, and I feel you guys are some of the more level-headed hobbyists around. I'm selling a lot of my glow stuff (flying fields are either disappearing or so far away...[]).
One item is a NIB Cox TD 051 with the plastic control line venturi. What would be a competitive selling price? Thanks guys.
Brian

"Plastic control line venturi"...Just wondering...
Is the whole front venturi piece red plastic, with a pressed in needle valve assembly? (might be a Medallion? )
Or...does it have the alum. screw in venturi with a seperate needle valve assy.?

There were 258 factory made Cox Medallion .051's

The easiest way to determine if it is a .051 (whichever type) is to check that it has the groove on the lower part of the piston. Some of the TD .049's near the end had red housings, I believe.

well new they were selling for around $59.95 before COX went under. So it ought to be worth at least that.
But you might want to check to make sure it isn't a Medallion engine though.
The Tee Dee's all had a metal needle valve assembly on top of the intake venturi.
The Medallion had a intake venturi with the needle valve inserted through the center of it.
Cox Tee Dee's, note the metal intake cap assembly on the engines.

earlwb,
You know, I swore it was a .051, but I looked again and it is in fact an 0.049 TeeDee, with the same plastic case as your first picture. Exact same engine, don't know why I was thinking of the color red or that the whole venturi was plastic. I'm not supposed to have memory issues at my age! Hope to have it in the market soon. Thanks for the help!
