blew up my Magnum .91RFS
Had my relatively new Magnum .91RFS blow up yesterday during a flight of my trusty Sig Skybolt ARF. I landed without incident and walked away with zero damage.
Opened up the engine and the crank is blown. The metal looked as if it was two different shades so my guess it had a weak stress point in the metal. I bought the engine a while ago but had it new in the box until installing it in the Skybolt. It has less than a gallon through it.
What now??

My brother had that happen twice. On his, the pin for the rod broke off. Both times he sent them to the Global service center with the sales invoice and a letter, and they replaced the crank at no charge. I guess they got a batch of bad crankshafts.

I busted a crank on a used .91 RFS two years ago. Bought a new crank, put in (took about an hour) . I replaced the bearings while I was at it as well. Its still running fine today.

Global services are excellent in customer care. My magnum .46 xls carb hole stripped out, sent me the new carb and everything. Calling them first is a good idea as well sending an email too.
You gotta send them the receipt where you purchased the engine, write down a problem what you have encountered and the engine ofcourse. I got everything back within 6 days, as soon as they received it they shipped out real quick and I got it within 3 days.
