Default My 2 choices in new boat

Im in a toss up with the brushless supervee 27 or the velocity mono from mini cat racing. They both come out to around same price, have to buy a tx for velocity. Which would be the better boat out of the 2? Im thinking I might learn more on how to set up a boat with the sv27, but I could be wrong.

Any opinions out there to help me weigh out the pro's and cons?

go with the sv27 then reb, if it has everything, take it, you can learn alot from it to a point, i love the mini boats (i have 4 working, 1 empty hull) because i can bash about in smaller lakes

The Velocity would be faster ..... But it would probably already be aproaching the hulls limitations and the setup would be near perfect already .... Fun .... But ..... After a while guys need to tinker . The SV on the other hand is not near the limits yet . You could have loads of fun adding things such as proper trim tabs and playing with props and even a motor upgrade ..... I have a UL1 motor and ESC in mine ....... It goes like Sh@# off a shiny shovel ! But ..... It's not perfect .... Thats why i have soooo much fun with it . You have to treat it with respect ..... Not just peg the throttle and watch it go round and round . This of course is just my opinion .

you will like this boat!
I own two and have kept mine stock execpt props, and can run mine in the low 40s all day long
still one of my favorite boats I own
keep the cg and strut right and you can pin the throttle with a CF48 prop on 4s and watch the fun!
no need to update or add much extra if you don't want to spend the extra cash

but if you do want a mini mono, look to ebay, you can get them with radio for only $175 shipped I think. but they are good for low 30s on 3s
mini cat charges to much for them in my opinion
I can get the same thing as minicat has, for only 120bucks shipped to me, but takes about 12 days to get to me

Yeah cant wait to get it, I did order the extra turn fin, adjustable trim tab with water pick up and a CF45 prop. I guess I have to wait on the lipos since hobbyking is out of stock right now. Hopefully they will have some soon. The mini monos did look like fun, maybe I will get one in the future.

i got mine from RC Worldwide Ebay store . $143 with 2.4 GHZ contoller to boot . Same boat that's on the MiniCat site for like a 100 bucks cheaper ! Since i got mine i've ordered 3 more for friends . Each one runs great . I added trim tabs - turn fin combos from Aquacraft to mine , i have to say its far more stable now .

before you add the different trim tabs, get your cog set good and your strut set right..
I keep the stock trim tabs at 0* and with a good cog I have to handling issues
also open up the stock water pickup in the rudder with a point file, that makes a big difference with the stock pick up
my stock SVs run constant low 40s and the money I saved not buying hop up parts, I've bought more lipos!

Thanks for the tips srt10. I just purchased those few things that I thought were a must for the sv after going through all those pages in the supervee setup post.

Which boat did you get? Which of the mini cat racing boats it it a copy of? I am looking for a smaller boat to get for the summer. I want a brake from my SV27 sometimes.

thanks,
