Aviation Design Storm
Has anyone built one of these and flown it yet?
I have one on order and plan on powering it with either a JetCat P80 SE or a Jet Central Falcon. The Manufacturer web site lists 15 to 26 pound Turbine for power (The Distributor web site I purchased it thru lists 14 to 22).
Also, What Retracts are being used for this airframe? I see they list the C36 retracts. Anyone know if there are other off the shelf units that'd suit this plane? (I'd prefer to stay with the trailing link retracts for Grass Field operation)
How does it fly? (Stability, bad habits etc)
Any advice would be very much appreciated
Thanks in advance
George

I never heard any Aviation Design plane that have bad flying behaviours, I fly with AD F-100D and it flies as a dream: you won't be disappointed for sure!

Stock or completely modified, is a great airplane... think that it´s my second favorite delta wing thing ever.

Thanks all for the replies and the link to the other posts about the Storm. I did search but only come up with posts about weather.
Anywho, thank you all for the replies. It seems to me like it is a great flying airframe that can be made to fly even beter with a little effort.

The structure of this airplane is engineered for a engine around 20 lbs and typical jet speeds of about 200mph or less.. anything significantly above this will require many modifications, unless you want to fly a rocket with a very short expiration date.

I think I agree, but being lazy I thought I would skip the mods. Maybe I should pull a plug and make myself a high speed carbon version. I was hoping to do some UAV systems testing and need something robust. The Storm appealed because of that massive fuselage and canopy access...

Oh yes, the fuselage volume and access in the Storm is very good.. and perhaps you can ask the builder in Argentina to lay a carbon version of it for you before you take your time doing it, as it may cost the same.
