I know of about 12 Eratix's in the air and I know of NO ONE flying with flaperons or spoilerons!! Not needed. It slows so you can walk beside of it and does all the manuvers that I am capable of performing, without anything extra. ENJOY !!
Thanks! You just saved me some extra work. I actually had the flaps and elevator coupled on my E3D and It made the tightest loops I've ever seen. It was comical.

I Agree with WRPSR1911, not needed with this type of airplane.

I just bought a used Eratix 3D. Looks well built and probably almost never flown. Somewhere on the World Wide WebI saw specificdetails about setting up the Spektrum DX6i for the Eratix. Seems to me there was some videos as well! But now that I have the plane, I can't find them. Can anyone help me with a link???

Thanks

Hi I am having a problem with my motor set up I am using the Turnigy 42 50A 700 motor in my Eratix plane with a Turnigy 80 Plush ESC. The prop I am using is 14x7. Without the prop the motor works fine. When the prop is put on at 3/4 power I get a screeching sound and the motor shuts off. I am using a 4S 2200 battery. The motor is not rubbing on anything. Can anyone give me some help to make this run. Thanks

I suspect you have a bad motor with bad bearings - not uncommon with smaller Turnigy motors sorry to say. I just sent one back with a similar problem - bearings lock up under load, but the motor seems to turn fine when it cools down. Hope this helps...Chris

I even programed the ESC cutoff threshold to medium and high and it still shut off. I might just get the Eflite 32 and there own 60 ESC at least they are in the US and if there is a problem they will take care of it. I know the cost will be more but I just want to fly my plane without this hassle. I have had good success with very small Turnigy motors with my foam planes but not this time. Thanks for responding lejongleur.

That's the way to go Eflite Power 32.
I've been flying my Eratix with this motor along with 60 amp ESC using Turnigy 4S 3000 mah 20C packs for some time. It all works great.

I used a Scorpion 3020-12 in mine. Very comparable power to the Eflite Power 32, lighter weight, a little less expensive. Both are good choices. Sorry you had bad luck with your Turnigy - they are usually pretty good, and great value.

It sounds like an ESC timing issue to me. I had the same problem with my eEratix. Just change your ESC timing and give it another try. I am running the Eflite 60A pro ESC with a Power 32 motor and 13*6.5 prop. I bought my ESC second hand, but as soon as I changed the timing all problems went away and I've been flying it carefree ever since.

How do you change the ESC timing?

Your best bet is to buy the programming card for $10 from HK. If you don't feel like waiting, download the manual and try to follow the arcane series of throttle commands to change the timing.

But seriously, buy the programming card.

also, jmir, what C rating is your battery? 2200mah sounds pretty slim for the rig you are running. Remember that even if your battery is rated for 30C , that is a max capacity of 66amps. You don't want to be anywhere close to the max capacity of your battery. Once you have the ESC issue resolved, check the temp of your battery immediately after landing. If it is any warmer than a feverish forehead, you are taking risks with the longevity and stability of your lipos

I have an Eflite 60amp ESC. I don't think the HK programming card will work with that.
I still don't know what you mean about ESC timing. Guess I better read up on it.

I'm using 4-cell, 3000 mah, 20C battery packs with my Eratix. Plenty of power, unlimited verticals and approximately 12 to 13 minute flights. Cells do not get hot at all.
I do have a couple of old 4S 2650 mah 30C that get quite warm now didn't before. So, I guess they are just getting old.
I also have a 4S 2200 mah 30C that I use and get about 6 to 7 minute flights with plenty of power I also notice easier to hover mostly because of lighter weight.

The Eratix is an awesome plane. Great 3D trainer.

Here is a link to the manual. I must admit it can be confusing to program it using your TX but it can be done and the results are worth it.

What the heck!! I have had a Eratix ordered from LHS for a month and a half. It has been delayed a few times since then. I see today on Horison's site it's now mid June!

I purchased all the gear for it, everthing. What is comparable size etc, I know nothing close but what can I get now. Dealer said that all hobby products are hard to get because of back order situations. You would think it would be the other way around. Thanks.

Which timing did you use for the Eflite Power 32?
Low, standard, or high?

I've been using 4000mah 3S batteries with a turnigy 3548 motor, a reasonably light setup with excellent vertical performance. I need to keep the battery pretty far forward in order to balance the plane. I'd imagine you could easily get away with the 4S 4000mah, but remember that as you increase the weight, it's not about the power so much as it is about the wing loading. The Eratix is a really nice slow flyer with a very forgiving stall, but as you add weight, those characteristics will diminish, and the plane will need to fly faster to stay in the air. You will also increase the risk of aileron flutter, which these planes are notorious for at higher speeds.

In short, if all-out 3D performance is your goal, go with the 4S but consider a smaller pack like a 3000mah to keep the wing loading low.

Well now it's mid July on arrival to the States. This is nuts. I bought an AJ Slick 55" and it's fantastic. More my type of plane. The dealers don't like it either believe me.

Yes it is. I've bought three for mine with a 42-50 650Kv motor with an APC 14x7 prop.

The only issue is that it needs care to get it into the fuselage as the pack is wider where the wire exits.

I've flown for ten minutes and not had to put half the capacity back into it when charging.

The power with this setup is amazing and as far as weight and tip stalls are concerned, mine will easily fly at a walking pace.

I've been using 4S 3000mah 20C with great results. The ones I use are the Blue-Lipo offered by hobbypartz.com for $29.70.
I fly for 10 minutes and usually restore around 2600 mah back when charging.

Can anyone suggest a motor which would run of 5cell 3300 lipo? This is not about me overpowering the plane and going stupid. I just happen to have two of these battereis from other planes I can use.

Cheers

Just a note on Turnigy motors. One of them failed in my Eratix plane and I had to switch over to a Eflite 32. Lucky I was able to glide the plane in for a landing. Dealing with Hobby King is not easy since they are in China. The cost of shipping the motor back was not worth it. I hear they are opening a warehouse in the United States soon. I used a Turnigy 80 ESC and it worked fine with my Eflite 32 so the motor was the problem. But for safety I went with an Eflite 60 ESC and I even tested the Turnigy motor with the Eflite ESC and it still did not work right. I tossed the motor in the trash.
