No. I never gave it much thought. I looks like it's just got a big piece of shink wrap over the boards and the heat sink. The water/power and motor leads just stick out the ends. How do you waterproof these? I could see just gooping the ends with silicone.

Is your esc suppose to be manufactured water proof?

My hydra is but it's very difficult to see. If I didn't know it was I probably couldn't ever tell.

I do believe they are designed, and assembled in Kansas but parts may come from a few different countries.

You are corect. Actually most of the componants are US as well. I'll actually have a part that's made in USA! A rare find in this hobby. I just pulled the trigger on this. Just placed the order with OSE. ESC costs more than my first RTR but oh well. When I saw the smoke come pouring out of that turnigy I realized I was so lucky that it happened on the boat stand and not out on the water. I don't want to see that again (I know I will). I may put one of those turnigys in my SV after I go to the ammo. That's later on. Hope to get this esc before the holiday weekend. Want to run the balsa beast for my dad.

Thanks Lorain,
Good luck with yours. Be patient. I spent more time thinking about mine than building it and it paid off. There's alot of good help here. I've got alot of family in Euclid. Nice to see another buckeye on here.

Behold! The CC Hydra 120! bha ha ha ha ha. Any advice on waterproofing it? Leave it alone? OSE feedback: ordered it on Sunday night. Waiting on my doorstep on Wed. (chose the USPS option) I'm very pleased. I wanted it for the long weekend. Now I have time to tune. Before I hook this thing up Is there any verificaiton that my motor is typical. What resistance should an 8XL have across the leads?

i just like the extra security as you never know what state its in under the heat shrink, i always take the shrink off, check, replace and re-seal

Just finished programing the new ESC. I'm a little disappointed to see in the instructions that the BEC is only recomended for 12 cells or 3S. It appears to work with 4S but I don't want to damage anything. The timing settings are a bit vague. I'm starting with a mild timing setting and I'll move up from there. Also I believe it's capable of handling 6S but the voltage cutoffs only go up to 4S settings. It got warm quick when I was testing it at low rpm (no cooling). Just need to put some zip ties on the cooling lines and top off the packs and I'm ready to boil some water. It would be pleasant if I saw a speed increase from this purchase but I don't expect to see much. Feels like the throttle control is smoother for sure, less cogging.

You can get away with running bec on 4s. Voltage cut off can be manually input.

OK. I'll waiger I need a programing card to do more than I have. I'll guess I can do more with the timing as well. No matter. It's good to go. Thanks ryan. I need the piece of mind I'm not going to burn something up (like that would ever happen) No video this weekend but maybe some good action shots.

In this hobby Scott, I'll be honest with you. Anything can happen. Were playing around with high power systems. Pea e of mind for me is knowing I have a warranty backed up by a really reputable manufacture.

I know. I've blown up $10,000 motors the first time out so I know the anything can happen. This is really similar to that actually. You are pushing even the properly speced equipment to it's limits. The reality is your budget should be whatever you think the equpment is going to cost you and then double that. I'm feeling good having the castle in there though. What the hell though, it's a hobby. . Weather is perfect here. Hope to get out later this afternoon. Gotta do my chores now.

My second video Filmed my my nine-year-old. She's trying to keep up She did manage to get the crash. Seems like the boat is really flip prone with the 440/2. I need to get more video. May require an adult to come allong.

Hey while I'm here: The boat was glitching a bit again. I'm running a Hytec Aggressor (FM). The only thing I noticed is that I only had about 8" (about 50% of the antenna tube) of wire in the tube on the boat. I pushed some more in to see if it helps next time but wondering what others have found. I may just add more wire and let it hang out the top like others I've seen. annyway enjoy. I think it a one-and-a- half with a full twist. Difficulty level 6.

Looks like adding wire to the tube has solved my glitch. She's solid all the time. Had two great runs today. Good breeze going. I'm getting better at running near the edge into the wind and backing off when she starts to lift. Still lost her once though. 440/2 seems to be a great prop for it.

OK. I ran the cat last night and it's running very well. I shot some video but it's stationary and I'm blasting in and out of the frame constantly, doesn't make for a good vid to watch so I probably won't upload it. (can't get the wife and kids to come to the pond) I'm getting more concerned about temps now though. Still running a Feiago 8XL on 4S (40C zippys) via a Castle 120. Right now I'm running a octura x440/2. I ran 4300mah out of my 5000 and temps on both the motor and the ESC were 130's. I don't have a much more conservative prop. I was hot enough that I didn't want to run a second set of packs. I ended up waiting for a while and running about 1/2 of my second set. Then it glitched once and I brought it in. Is it typical for an ESC to glitch when it gets too hot? Does the Hydra have any thermal protection? Does anyone pump water through their cooling system on shore to accelerate cooling between runs? Am I obsessing?

OK just a quick one.......
