Main retracts.
Eric from Robart suggested I remove a few coils from my mains so I did.
The results are perfect as the oleos sit right in the middle of the total movement, thus giving the plane movement in both directions.
Hope to maiden her on Saturday.

RE: ZIROLI F9F PANTHER BUILD
Hope the weather is great for ya this weekend!
She's come along way since your buddy gave it to you.
I can hear him now, "Hey buddy I was thinking and well, could I have that panther back?"

Maiden flight
It's always a good feeling to get that first one in!
Did the 360 degree range check, a little taxi test and she was ready to fly.
My buddy Joe did the maiden.
Five clicks right aileron for trim.
The ailerons were a little sluggish so we added more throw after the flight.
Full throttle and she flies about the same speed as my WW II warbirds: good, just what I want.
It was getting pretty windy but Joe got her down despite the cross-wind.

PM:
My flap two position flap throws were only about 5 degrees apart so I changed them to get about 20 degrees for possible take off flaps and strong wind landings and about 40 degrees for 'normal' days.
pic 1-3:
UP, partial down and full.
pic 4:
Hole drilled in end of wing to remove flap servo screw for flap adjustment.
Sub-trim and manual adjustment used to get desired throws.
pic 5/6:
Put some foam on the 'hanger rash' protector and it was marring the clear cockpit plastic.
I plan on more flights on Sunday.

interesting video that I just found.
Pilot's home movies from 1953/4 on Carrier operations.
Mostly F6f's but a few F4U's and skyraiders.

PM for the start of a new season.
Batteries all charged, all servos checked, hardware checked, gear working and brakes working.
My aluminum insulation protector on the nose rubbed a blemish on the cockpit but some Mequiars #20 polymer sealant and some elbow grease removed it.

tomorrow, I'll test the engine.
pic 2/3:
Before/after polishing the canopy (blemish just right of the pilots head).

Thanks for the great info,
I'm currently doing a ASM "ARF" "72" Wingspan Panther, but want the scale landing gear look.
As you stated about not having the $$$ to buy jet ARF's and composites i do, but i'm just tired of burning cash fast
I also just finished the ASM Mig-15 with a Ramtec Scropion 5035/650Kv motor, i will most likely run the same setup in the Panther as the EDF unit puts out 19lbs of thurst on 12's 40c packs.
Here's a picture of the Mig-15 and Panther. I had the XPS fan but didn't like the numbers installed on 12's so swiched to the Ramtec Unit.
You can see Williams tests at the half way point of video number 2.
