Temporarily
Unavailable
Product manufacturing and/or distribution has been suspended by the manufacturer until further notice, or some other problem prevents us from taking orders for the item. Please revisit our web site periodically to check for possible status updates to these items.
I wonder if Tower will still sell them for $99.99 when they have them back in stock?

I wish they make a kit version of this truck. I want to try this one out but I am not a fan of RTR electronics/engines. []

Got mine today , Did the required break-in. Really don't like it, has the turning radius of 20-30 feet ! Would be fun but , i guess. I just had a knee jerk reaction to the hot price. Gonna sell it. brand new broken-in. $125 shipped anywhere in the US. I'll post in the want ad /classifieds section if no one local wants it.

RE: HPI Nitro Monster king... speak up!!
Mine (my daughter's really) was delivered around 5:00 PM today. I installed a hump pack, installed a failsafe and sealed the motor. Break-in will be tomorrow. I think the turning radius is because of the front tires, they are half rubber and half plastic (these will be replaced SOON). I plan to pick up a set of tires to match what's on the rear and put them on the front. The way weight is distributed on this RC, the front wheels will not see the ground very much. For the most part I like this little truck. There are a few things I do not like, but nothing that makes me regret buying it. And for the price, it was well worth it.

i take its 14 mm hexes that hold the wheels on? Cause i had a real nice wide set of wheels that were on my savage 25 until i put xl wheels on, cause i am intending fitting these when my nitro king eventually arrives

I think that it has 12mm hexes? , but Idon't see why you couldn't use some of the adaptors to run Savage or e-maxx wheels and tires. I've seen em for around $10 bucks. My thoughts aswell. plus as a bonus the added weight up front and better tires might keep the front end on the ground and it may actually steer. making it a better truck overall.
Iactually think that there might be plastic wheels adaptors in the "extra"parts bag in the kit as well, check iy out. I'm away from the truck right now

OK, found something I hate more than the front tires. The new roto-start design absolutely SUCKS! I like the roto-start on my savage, but this one is horrible. Is this same roto-start used on all new HPI vehicles?

RE: HPI Nitro Monster king... speak up!!
Got one on Friday and did the first couple breakin tanks.
My impressions so far:
Good:
First nitro truck I ran across that is decent at low speeds.
Good suspension. Gets over stuff that would even get bigger MTs stuck.
Engine is protected from rollovers.
Engine seems to be sensitive to tuning. Finish is better than the G3.0 . Hoping it's a sign of more aggressively ported setup. Not holding my breath though.
Bad:
The wiring from b.box runs across engine and gets hot.
F Tires are ok for pavement, but useless for dirt.
Those steering linkages really should be aluminum/steel with rod ends. Too much of a breakage waiting to happen if you hit a low rock.
Ugly:
Mine came without a collet out of the factory The clutchnut was cranked so tight there was no chance of removing it without using a piston lock.
The engine came with very lean settings. Not a big deal to me, but considering the market this truck is for, this should have been double checked.

RE: HPI Nitro Monster king... speak up!!
New HPI Nitro Monster King, I picked up one from my LHS Sat/17th. I cound'nt pass it up for $125. My LHS says they got 6 units in, & after their gone, their all gone. But parts are on the way. I ran three tanks(break-in) today, & so far I like it. On the second tank, still way too rich, I began driving it around the yard, & I would"goose" the throttle alittle & the thing would hang the front wheels in the air. I can't wait till it's all broken-in, so I can see what this little truck can do. I plan to put some "wheely-king" tires on the front to make all the tires the same. In the box, some extra parts came with it, looks like some 17mm hexes & servo saver parts. I'll will tear it down at some point to check the diffs, you know that the factory never puts any grease in there. Looks like it's easy to work on. Well, we will see how it goes. So for the money, I think it will work......Scott
