RE: wren supersport
I am agreeing with the fact that no action could be taken with the sent back turbine because someone was not there as on post No 95, Keep up Harry.

That's right Mike, it's a dreadful crime for some of the staff to go and actually sell the product for a couple of days to keep the business afloat in these most difficult of times.

Now your getting the idea Harry , if any buisness relies on just one or two individuals to run, it will not be able to give sufficient support or technical back up to its customers, it rearly is that simple.

RE: wren supersport
My how we seem to love to deviate from the thread matter.
Talking to Paul, they have been able to replicate my problem back at Wren HQ. It seems that on very high temperature days it is possible for the electronics to drift off. This seems to manifest itself in the trottle command giving greater than 100% input. This is then not understood by the ECU which then give the shut down command. This would bare out the facts, as Merryfield was hot and some.
Two things to note, me must use the wing bags to shade the electronics in the blazing mid day sun and secondly any funny antics on running, do a re-learn of the trottle first.
All things back in the airframe, but next door is not to keen on the noise. Off to the flying site tomorrow morning, so will update after that.
settings on the returned ECU
Accel delay 012
Deaccel delay 015
Stabalisation delay 050
Pump start Auto+0
Pump ramp 006

The outside temperatures, when running my Supersport, have approached 41-42c, or 106f. My FADEC resides just aft of my canopy, however, it is below the cockpit tub so it may, in effect, be shielded from the majority of the heat soak. However the cockpit is scale and dark and the paint in general is not reflective, so it would absorb a lot of heat if it weren't for me placing a white towel over the glass when it is sitting.

Hi USA
Love the gorgious airframe.
Thankfully we do not get that warm, but my ECU in on the top in direct sunlight. Have learnt my lesson from now on.[sm=shades_smile.gif]

RE: wren supersport
Here in India we have had hundreds of flights on Wren turbines. Our winter temperature are 30 degrees C and summer temperatures are 40 degrees C. So far 1 supersport and 1 160 had similar problems as described in this thread new out of the box, all different settings were tried but they refused to run reliably, both engines were sent to Wren and both came back running perfect. So far we have had to change no settings on any of the Wrens running here due to high temperatures. yes its always a good idea to cover electronics from direct sunlight.

cause...
move your ecu to the other side of the plane. moving it away from the fuel pump just in case its making electrical or magnetic noise. cant hurt..

NVM..
I just spent the last two months working in the Electromagnetic Laboratory testing our new Geo Orbit Satellite system and I saw some neat things about magnetic and electromag interference coming from things... A little fuel pump puts off a field that can affect electronics, especially when power is applied to accelerate. gave me a new appreciation for installations to not stuff things too tight. Our ECUs also give off a bit of EMI as guys know from the 72MHz days. I just wonder if a fuel pump can affect an ECU.. I think maybe yes?

Don't know if the info is of any help at all, may just be spurious coincidence, but these people were having Jetcat problems in some versions of the Boomer http://jmajets.co.uk/board/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1778

The other problem he mentions with glow plug, well I have solved this problem forever with a spark ignition I developped , works flawlessly... for what its worth.

in my case, I only use propane for starting and not the propane/butane mix. it might work but I haven't tried it and the propane only works flawlessly so why change.
But with my setup, I use a needle valve in the propane line instead of a pulsating valve. and you will notice a lot less propane is needed , the needle is opened about .75 of a turn to 1 turn.
After developing my own system I am now having the complete setup made out in china , plug and play....

What are you using as an ignition for the spark plug?
What are you using as an ignition for the spark plug?
I use a regular ignition module but without the auto advance and make it fire continuously with a timer I made . As I said I now have them made with everything built in
