Default shortening a stinger drive

as the title above says, i want to shorten my stinger so it measures 48mm, this is from transom to strut end (in front of the drive dog) i don't want to buy a new flex shaft as it will involve lengthening the rudder stand off

if its to short it will affect the way the boat handles!
and the hull will never reach full potential

i measured from the transom to the prop side of the strut to be 48mm and cut the stinger to the same length, i have had the boat on the water a couple of times as it was and it handled very well, if it does turn out to be crap then i can change back to the original strut

the shortest length stinger i found was 45mm long

I agree the whole idea of a longer stinger is to put the prop further back so its in clean water, this helps with speed and handling as it makes the boat longer.

dont mean to sound ungrateful for all the comments but the stinger i shortend is working very well indeed, on  dead flat water running all stock with 3s, i got 52mph out of her, still got to get speed reading on 4s yet and i did extend the rudder stand off, may even buy a new stinger yet

mis-print, it was the stock 380L motor (getting hot made me change) on 3s in parallel

the 1900kv on 4s was getting me upto 46mph, so i will swap for a longer stinger and will install the 2200kv motor on 4s when it gets here, i use an airspeed indicator

i apologise guys, im in such a hurry to get it all posted and i'm not explaining myself fully, will try better next time

I was doing the math and came to the same conclusion. I'm turning much more rpm than that and not getting 50+ from my cat. Vid doesn't feel like 50's either. Maybe kilometers/hr.

Agreed..
I have a Titan29 that sees high 40s and low 50s on 4s with a prop change and that hull rips!
That vid looks more like upper 20s maybe 30mph?
52mph no way!

Video looks good Nick,my camera came too, great pic and video quality.
Just for the record a shorter strut/stinger doesnt necessarily mean slower speeds or poorer handling, done it lots of times on my boats with just the opposite.

theres no way you can get 52mph on 3s and that video shows it
you would need a 6XL and possibly a 5XL to get those kind of speeds only running 3s
your 380 cannot produce the power and get those speeds
you need more power on 3s to do so
mybe I should post a vid of my T29 and claim 76mph? [:-]

Just remember to have fun.

I agree, true numbers should be posted
That's what most post so others can build the same if they want to have the same speeds and more..
